Sorry but this place is grim. Disinterested and cheerless servers. A few rubbish soggy sandwiches at 1:30pm on a Saturday, overpriced soft drinks (bottle of Oasis £3.50 - really?) and disgusting UHT coffee from a glorified vending machine. It’s Lovely spot with potential - but not hard to see why people bring their picnics to this gorgeous spot.

We have just returned from a day trip with some of our holiday club families. Sally, Dawn and the team could not do enough for us. They made delicious sandwich platters and then were brilliant helping with serving and organising all the ice creams. An incredibly friendly and well organised team, thank so much for helping to make this such a special day!

Tried the Funky Fox for the second time despite negative reviews. There is a limited menu but the portion sizes of the cheesy chips were generous and lots of cheese. Only reason for 3 stars rather than 4 was that they were out of beans which seems a bit fundamental given their main food items are baked potatoes and cheesy chips. Staff very friendly.

Been here before, found it lovely and never had problems, today however after a long bike ride we pulled up for a quick bite of lunch, ordered 2 bottles of coke but were given cans instead? Then they refused to exchange then even though it was their mistake, then ordered cheesy ships and a sausage roll, we were told to wait to be called for our food to be ready, waited over 20 minutes for some chips and when we went to collect it they had forgotten the sausage roll which, After reminding them, I saw them quickly throw it into a microwave. Showing massive incompetence for such a simple tasks!! Fortunately the chips were lovely but was just spoilt by such bad service, no apologies for any mistakes.

Honestly probably the worst coffee i've ever had in my life. It comes out of a machine, ive had better instant coffee from 3-in 1 sachets at a hospital. I paid £3 for the coffee and i genuinely couldnt finish it, even after putting three sugars in it still tasted more burnt that my uncles bbq'd sausages where he puts them directly on the coals for "flavor".

The facilities generally at Rutland Water are really quite poor. The catering is the worst part though. Just bought refreshments on site at the Funky Fox Cafe. The coffee was undrinkable and the muffins were of poor quality. There was also little choice in the selection of goods on offer. There is really nothing good to say about this place.

Horrendously overpriced ice cream. Never again. Lost customer after a treat for the children.
