Good points - best bacon at breakfast! I've never tasted better; thick, full of flavour and absolutely delicious.|Bad points - the annex. Guys, it you are offered a room in the annex - don't bother. The standard of decor and maintenance (simple coat of paint!) is just not acceptable. I expressed a concern about having to flush the loo with the waste paper bin. This was an issue in 2013 - see below! Same room. If you do decide to risk it, I highly recommend you manage your expectations accordingly.

Booked a premier double room. The room had mould to the corners and old stains to the carpet (a statement which a member of staff agreed with and stated was not one of her favourite rooms). Unfortunately a knocking noise developed during late evening and after 30 minutes we contacted a member of staff who tried to locate the issue but was unable to. After gentle prompting he offered us a change of room which was smaller than we had booked. In the morning the initial charge was for the more expensive room but after a complaint was reduced to the smaller room rate and then with a further suggestion, a 10% discount for our inconvenience. Personally I do not think either room was value for money. The staff were a lovely young team who were very kind and attentive.

We, a family of six adults, booked a table for dinner (for our family from Australia) to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary
The Amberley Inn is very tired, no table linen as shown on their website, just sticky wooden tables; as it was the Saturday of the bank holiday we decided that it was better to stay rather than find somewhere else to eat; foolishly we believed the food would make up for the disappointing run down look of the place
The young waiter who took our orders for drinks and food, was absolutely delightful
One lady ordered fish and chips; not good; the fish was chewy
One lady ordered tuna and specifically asked that it be cooked on the outside and pink on the inside, as cooked through makes tuna very dry; it came cooked through as she was told the “chef” didn’t know how to cook the tuna the way described
Eating at the Amberley will not be a recommendation from us

This hotel was recommended by a friend. I stayed there for two nights and would, in turn, recommend it. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food, simple but well cooked. The rooms comfy and the position lovely. A big plus is that it is reasonably priced. What more could you want?

Grew up around here, wasn't my primary go-to, has changed hands a few times but it's always been a good place with a relaxed atmosphere and the local attendance seems to reflect that. Can't comment on accommodation as I've never stayed 'in house'. If you're a visitor to the village just be courteous and respectful, you'll do just fine.

Family with small children who have stayed 3 nights. First night in a classic room, last two nights in a premier family room. I highly recommend booking direct for a premier room. We spent the day outside and cane to the room in the evening - it was so so comfy, just what we needed. Had dinner 2 nights and the food was very tasty and well presented both nights. Portions were large and prices were okay. Breakfast was cooked to order and therefore so fresh. Overall, we had a great stay, my daughter didn’t want to leave! I hope we can return again.

Weekend break away, made very welcome by the staff. Food is excellent. The beer and wine selection was very good. The room although on the small side was very comfortable, with stunning views out over the valley. Would definitely keep The Amberley Inn on the to do again list. ||

Myself and my wife stayed for one night whilst visiting a National Trust property. The Inn is a typical attractive Cotswold Pub with rooms and the reception, bars and restaurant looked attractive. We had booked a "classic" room (22). This was in the cottages at the back of the property and this unfortunately was where things started to go down hill. Firstly, the good points: the room was clean and warm and the bed comfortable but the room was in poor condition with moldy bath grouting and moldy window frames that were beginning to rot. The double-glazing was blown and the outside windows dirty. The carpet was stained and some furniture badly scratched. The ceiling paint was cracked and the skirting, scuffed and dusty. It looks as if the fixtures and fittings were probably several decades old and are showing their age.|We ate in the restaurant and the meal was pleasant but be aware, at the time of writing the menu displayed on the website was approximately 30% less than the actual prices. |I suspect that any investment has been made has been to the rooms in the main building. These are rooms marketed as "premier" rooms.
