A delightful place to stay. Ample free parking, right in the centre of a very appealing little town. Comfortable, clean and well-appointed. The breakfast was lovely, served in the café attached to the hotel (it was nice to be amongst general brunching café customers on Saturday morning); the welcome was genuine and the staff were helpful and friendly. We were sorry not to have longer there.

Lovely hotel with newly refurbished quirky themed rooms. A lovely gentleman greeted us all and showed us to our rooms. The dining room was also really funky and lovely breakfast. |My daughter had an Oscar Wilde themed room. We had a zebra/lion/giraffe/elephant kind of zoo animal room - it was fabulously funky. Had a great nights sleep.||To access the free parking, you have to use Burghley Street which is worth noting.

This is a wonderful old inn in the centre of Bourne.... It was such a nice change from staying at bland big chains... The staff was caring, very tasty breakfast... Now, the décor... In years fine by very strong colours were used and the are now decorating in period colours... I was surprised at how much liked them... So nice from the eternal magnolia... And now I understand gold frames and decorations... They work so well against a deep blue... I thought it was stunning... It is worth pointing out that all rooms are on the first floor with steps all over the place...you have to be mobile to get to them.... That is how it is with old places such as this. We would go again, no problem...

To celebrate the success of two charity fundraising events (Spencer's Ball in April and an open-water swim at Burghley House on Saturday 11th May) six of us booked for afternoon tea at The Angel this afternoon. When we arrived the young staff were pleasant, and showed us to our table which had been nicely set and looked very inviting.||Five of us were there on time, but the sixth was delayed for about 20 minutes as she was giving a radio interview with BBC Cambridge concerning her amazing fundraising efforts. However, we did not ask for the tea to be delayed, and said we were happy to start without her. It was the staff's choice to wait for a short while before serving us.||The food was mostly very nice, and we were still eating when a member of staff started spraying some cleaning stuff just 2 metres from where we sat. As the woman moved away, the aerosol drifted over to us with an unpleasant smell, and was so strong that it spoilt my enjoyment of the food and I felt that I could actually taste it. So when the woman returned with the aerosol to do more cleaning, I called across to ask her to stop. She replied that she wasn't spraying anything, and there was nothing to smell - in spite of the fact that I had actually seen her do it. So one of our group walked across to her and asked to speak to the Manager, and was told that the woman was the manager. My friend explained that the smell was very unpleasant, but the woman's attitude was rude and very dismissive, saying it wasn't a problem, so I also went across to her to complain. The woman was very abrupt with us, and didn't make any apology so I sat down again. The manager grudgingly apologised to my friend, and then complained herself that we had been half an hour late! (not true - see above). ||Had the manager offered an apology to begin with things would have been okay, but her attitude was completely unacceptable. She also continued to clean tables and chairs whilst we still had food to eat, despite there being no sign of any other guests. The use of a liquid spray to clean is one thing, but spraying aerosols near guests who are eating is very wrong, particularly as one of our group is asthmatic and it could have triggered an attack. ||I don't think we will be returning.

Went in for lunch today. |Young lad behind counter who was struggling and given little support from the other staff member. Felt very sorry for him as he seemed overwhelmed.|Service was very very slow and order was wrong. Ask for Tuna and Onion panini just for tuna. One meal came with chips, other chips were missing. Jacket potato should have been tuna and sweetcorn mayo, no sweetcorn. Asked for butter go no butter. Potato was dry and microwave, tasteless! |Panini was just okay! |£36 and it felt like a complete waste of money. ||The pregnant lady serving was very miserable and unsupportive. ||Will not return.
