I was visiting the area for a family occasion. The inn was busy when I arrived to check in on Saturday afternoon with many people eating. I noticed that it had Cask Marque so had hand pump ales as well as a cocktail menu and all the usual offerings of a good pub. I was nicely surprised to see how modern and clean the upstairs area was where the rooms are. It's obviously all been recently renovated as the bathroom was very modern, albeit compact. There were tea and coffee facilities (and biscuits) and toiletries were provided. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast selection was good.

Have frequented the Angel a few times over the years - food is always good and portions are often generous.|It’s a lovely pub with a big car park (watch the entrance !) and a great garden in the summer. |There are a few different sections within the pub - some have bigger tables and can get quite noisy with families all enjoying themselves. I’m sure you can reserve a table in a quieter section if there are only a couple of you.|We have sizzling chicken, fish cakes, sizzling salmon and liver and onions. Feedback on the liver was that it is excellent- pan fried.

Quality of food does not reflect the price of the food at all, Sunday lunch, beef was dry as a bone, cauliflower ‘cheese’ practically just a plain cauliflower no cheese about it. Couldn’t believe the total at the end £77 for 1 starter, 2 meals and a children’s meal and a bowl of chips

I leave lots of reviews in my travels, good to say I hardly leave any bad ones, However it's sad to say we called in at the Angel inn for an evening meal, in all honesty it's really pricey for what is clearly very cheap food. Example, the mushy peas were laced with food colouring and almost glowing, and literally tasteless. The gravy clearly instant and very watery. On a positive the chips were good. Pies are served in a pot, a pet hate of mine.
Not the venue it once was, such a shame as it used to be a good quality restaurant. Service was quick but not that attentive, i.e. they asked how was the food, my feedback, was that I said it was ok-ish, but I had left most of it. They Just smiled and walked off.

We had an amazing stay here the night before my wedding at Hodsock priory, the rooms were lovely and clean. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, they allowed our hair and make up artists come early that morning and brought our breakfast up to our room so we could continue getting ready. There was also around 16 of us the night before for food, the meal was tasty and the service was excellent always fast with the orders. We are looking forward to coming back!

I was looking forward to visiting The Angel at Blythe because we had had many lovely meals with my family in the past.|I ordered meat and potato pie. Think they need to look up the definition of a pie! which is a pastry case filled with meat or fruit. My pie was in a small dish with a few pieces of beef in the bottom, three small pieces of hard potato and two slices of carrot with, what appeared to be a layer of frozen puff pastry on top. The whole pie was very dry. To accompany the meal there was a large dollop of dark green mushy peas and chips that seemed warmed up. At £15.50, it was definitely overpriced.|I was extremely disappointed and although we like the pub, we will not be going back again.

We stopped off for lunch on our way to Hornsea from London. The white Swan was not serving food so this was our 2nd choice. I had a steak ale suet pudding. Delicious. My friend opted for the gammon steak. It was large and delicious. Nice to have a fresh pineapple rather than tinned. The two pints of "Landlord" went down rather well. It initially needed topping up. That was done happily by thr landlord and was not an issue. A perfect pint. The pub was quite busy. Staff were very friendly / welcoming and efficient. A well honed team. I shall keep it in mind to return.
