Great kitchen, clearly with cooks that enjoy working with food.
Little extra touches with flavours and preparation. Since it was our last day in England, we decided to have fish and chips as our main dish. Though it looked like the most simple dish on the menu, the food that was served wasn't. Simply the best fish and chips we have ever had with homemade sauces and great fusion flavours, even with the peas.

We booked a Sunday Lunch for my adult son’s birthday. His 2 yr old daughter would be there, so I asked if the Chef could make a birthday cake with candles? No problem they said - chocolate Ok?
OMG - it was beautiful! Service was great as usual; food delicious. Surroundings delightful; lovely atmosphere. Cleanest facilities - better than most top hotels. Everyone very happy - can’t wait to go back!

Superb food, cozy ambience and gracious staff put this pub head and shoulders above its competitors. My husband and I enjoyed the haddock soufflé and quail for starters then moved on to the rib eye steak. All of it was fresh, flavoursome and perfectly cooked. We live nearby and this is our new favourite!

Really mixed emotions. I was the only customer in the whole restaurant except for some people having a meeting with staff very noisily in the next room. Starter was two scallops with a tiny piece of pork belly. Sauce was ok but priced outside its rating (£18). Main was a delicious sea bream with nice accompaniments. Dessert was a slightly odd combination of cinnamon creme brûlée with apple tart. The apple tart was thin pastry with thin slices of apple and nice. The creme brûlée was not that great, the sugar was bitter as slightly too burnt, the creme was too liquid it was more like a custard with little cinnamon flavour. Waitress was less than engaged bearing in mind she only had to serve me until another two customers arrived after about 30 minutes. Toilets very clean and of impressive facilities. Lots of promise not sadly delivered

No tea and cake just an overpriced dessert!

I was tempted by the promise of tea and cake advertised on the board outside. I got in and was shown the dessert menu which only had one choice of cake served with ice cream. I declined the ice cream and opted for coffee instead. The coffee was served several minutes before the cake arrived and was longer hot, so I had to ask for another cup. Sadly the cake was a bit of an anti climax. £10 for a disappointing experience!

We spent two glorious nights at this gem of a hotel. Our classic room was a good size and the fittings and fixtures of high quality including goosedown pillows,,top notch bedding,,homemade biscuits and aircon. Breakfast was excellent as was our delicious dinner. The Angel is staffed by a great professional team and deserves to be full every night. A perfect place for a meal or a base to explore the stunning surrounding countryside. Run don’t walk to book your stay!!

Had a wonderful 2 night stay. Took my mum for her birthday. Gorgeous hotel. Staff where very attentive but not overwhelming. We were delighted that we chose this hotel. Village is delightful too and we took a lovely slow walk around one morning. Do visit the church it also has information on the village and offers a map with a guided walk explaining the history and sights. We ate at this hotel one night and the crown the next. Both excellent. Very memorable trip. Would stay again.
