This hotel should be avoided. I was there with my husband for 4 days and there was no hot water or central heating. The food was not great either. Very small portions and served like warm. Also very slow waiting service. It was as if the staff could not be bothered. The bedroom was ok. Clean and tidy enough. Our coach driver was excellent as well as the coach

My wife and I have visited this Hotel twice before. The last visit was 3years ago. Knowing how good the Hotel was we decided to return. We booked through David Urquhart Tours. We had an excellent trip down in a lovely coach with a brilliant driver. When we walked into the Hotel we knew something was wrong. All the pictures and ornaments had disappeared. The walls had screw holes where the pictures had been. The Reception area was very bare and basic and the Manageress was not very pleasant. It took 3/4 hour and 3 rooms to get allocated our room which was not great but the best we had been offered. The dinner choice was poor and the food only just acceptable. I must say the dining room was ok but the service and young staff were very good. Entertainment was meant to be for two nights. On the first night we were told there was no entertainment in the hotel but we could go to the Chadwick Hotel ( about 3/4 mile away in pouring rain, no thank you ) to get entertainment. The bar was poorly stocked. There was no price list at the bar which I believe is illegal. The bar staff could not take cash as the till was locked due to a computer fault. Drink was charged to our room. Breakfast was just acceptable. There was no entertainment on the second night. Another coach arrived on Saturday. At dinner that bus was fed fist resulting in our dinner being served 40 minutes late. We were told there was no entertainment as the other coach had hired their own singer and that we were not allowed in to the venue ( an early night!). We had a buffet breakfast on Sunday which again was just acceptable. Sunday dinner was again poor. Monday breakfast was poor. we both returned our breakfasts both our egg whites were running clear. At checkout I asked about the drink we had from the bar and I was told to forget it ( the only good thing about our visit). I have written to David Urquhart to suggest that they take the Ashton Park off there list of hotels so that our poor visit is not experienced by anyone else.

Very comfortable and clean. Lovely staff. Very helpful. It there early and the maid did my room for me before the others which she didn't have to do. Nice bar with a lovely seating area just through the doors where you can sit by the window with views of the park across the road. Close to the beach. Aldi across the road. Swimming pool, though I didn't use it. And very good value for money.

Arrived at hotel & manageress came out to the bus with our keys, we were aware that the hotel had been taken over & there were some issues. The manageress was very helpful to my mum & myself. The room was spacious & clean. The only major problem was at restaurant some of the staff didn't seem to be actually working especially 1 young girl. Food acceptable. Hopefully once the new owners have sorted things out for next season.

Stayed here for one night and will definitely not be returning. Booked a twin room and on arrival was sent to a double room however this was soon rectified, the room was tiny, dirty and the decor was very shabby. Prior to my trip I checked the details of facilities and what is provided, it stated that there was a hairdryer in every room. There was no hairdryer in our room so I went to the reception area to request one and was told that they don't provide them , I then explained that the details listed clearly state that you do and on the strength of this I hadn't brought my own, I was assured that one would be sorted and left in my room . The hairdryer never appeared! In the morning we went down for breakfast and requested a full english, the food arrived quite quickly we had no cutlery on our table so had to go and find some, the breakfast was disgusting it was very undercooked and extremely greasy, basically inedible. At checkout I asked about the hairdryer and a girl came out of the office with one, she had just been to purchase it! Whilst I appreciate the effort it was too little, too late. On checkout they also tried to overcharge me, fortunately I had email confirmation of the correct price . Some of the staff were friendly but the majority just looked as though they didn't have a clue what they were doing, apparently the hotel had just reopened but this is no excuse. The photos of the rooms and the facilities do not give a true representation of the hotel.

I've been going to the Ashton Park Hotel for 9 years & I'm sorry to say it seems to be taking a turn for the worse. After a two night stay this weekend I can say we had no problem with the bedroom, which was clean, reasonably up to date with the decorations & beds were comfy. However when asking for a gin at the bar I was told it hadn't been delivered as was the same the following breakfast being told they hadn't had a delivery of porridge. The meals had a lot to be desired with a lot being returned to the kitchen, the waitresses & waiter were very polite under difficult situations. Our comments were put to the reception & we were advised they would be delt with, we hope this happens as it would be a shame if it isn't as it makes it look as if the hotel is being run on a shoe string. The kitchen chef requires replacing.

Utterly disgraceful. Freezing cold water so no shower in hotel. We had to go swimming to make sure we could have a shower. Bites noted on daughter's ankles and arm. Food was awful for breakfast, was told breakfast between 8.30 -10 but only sausage and beans left at 9am tea and coffee was only warm. Had to go out for breakfast on 2nd morning even though paid for at hotel. Asked for extra milk in room to make brews to keep us warm but only given 2 tea bags and 3 coffee so had to buy own tea bags. We will not stay again but parking and location was good.

travelled as part of a coach trip. hotel in excellent location for promenade and main town shops. room was ok but needs upgrading. mixer tap for shower did not work properly. nice clean bedding and nice towels. service in dining room was chaotic for the first 2 nights. food basic and portions are small. to wait 30 mins for a 'sweet' is unacceptable. breakfast is buffet style but getting everything available at the same time is quite an achievement. There is only one 4 - slice toaster in the dining room to cater for 30+ tables. We were told the hotel has recently changed hands - staff were hard working but everything seems disorganised and more than staff to assist would help. Unfortunately we won't return .
