We came back with friends after we enjoyed the afternoon tea here, where we experienced what we thought was a taster of the homemade sausage rolls. Delicious!|We decided to order (on our second visit) 2 rolls to share as a starter as they were so good. ||We ordered 2 at £7 each. It was a bitesize piece. £14 for 2 slices of sausage roll, no bigger than a large lego duplo brick. It was on the nibbles section on the menu, but it needs to be made more clear that it is not a full portion. We soon realised it was a full portion one the afternoon tea. Maybe we should have asked first, but who expects a miniature sausage roll for £7?||3* for the friendly service and the rest of the food. Not one for complaining really, but guys, you really need to look at the pricing for your very small portions. Extremely annoying.

Visited for a Sunday dinner and didn’t disappoint! Food was amazing, one of the best roasts I’ve had. Staff members very friendly and accommodating. Food very quick as well. The restaurant is gorgeous, has a proper classic pub feel whilst being very well kept and clean and modern. Definitely recommend for a Sunday dinner

One night dinner, bed and breakfast with our dog was great and very comfortable. A traditional pub, friendly staff and good food. All within walking distance of Chatsworth. Our dog particularly appreciated the complementary snacks and doggy four poster bed! 😅

Superb service, great food and a special family lunch that was just what we wanted. Despite turning up a week early (having booked the wrong date online) the manager and staff could not have been more kind and helpful, finding us a table despite being very busy. The food and wine were excellent and not too expensive. Love the low ceilings, real fires and warm friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended, my favourite place for a special meal in the Peak District.

We booked a two room package for Christmas Eve and Christmas| Day but the whole experience was very expensive and somewhat underwhelming. There is no denying that Beeley is a beautiful village and the Devonshire Arms is picturesque but the cost is totally over the top. It was not possible to sit in a quiet corner and enjoy a drink. All the tables were set for dining and indeed after our meal on Christmas Eve we had to remain at our table until we decided to go to bed. The meal was very good but the price of drinks absolutely extortionate. The small bar was full of locals standing and enjoying drinks. Our room, across the road was warm and comfortable with an excellent bathroom and shower. I was particularly upset that my email to the hotel had not been answered as I had requested that my daughters birthday on Christmas Day (Kate Hopkins) could possibly be marked in some way. The email was obviously not seen. Breakfasts were good and plentiful but the white china coffee and tea pots do not keep the drinks hot. Christmas Day lunch was a bit weird. The starters were tasty but the main event less so. Christmas lunch is about succulent slices of turkey breast. There was some strange ballotine of turkey with a miniature blob of stuffing in the middle, a potato fondant, about 4 tiny roast potatoes, two sprouts, two tiny carrots and two tiny parsnips. Swimming in gravy. W e had to ask for Cranberry Sauce. Then afterwards Christmas pudding but with no Brandy sauce. OK, a glass of fizz to start and a few chocs at the end!! With a very full dining room we eventually went to bed early and watched tv. At about 8pm a hamper was delivered which we didn't feel like sitting on the bed to investigate so we took it home. By the next day he contents were past their best so we threw them away!! To add insult to injury when we checked out we were charged for two bottles of Prosecco which we definitely neither ordered nor received. The one thing about this hotel is the friendliness of the staff but the quality of its food leaves a lot to be desired.

Strangely my feelings echo someone who stayed at the same time as we did. We were in Jasmine and there was no heating in the room when we arrived until late afternoon . It was December and our room should have been warmly welcoming. We also were surprised that we could not sit down for A warming drink but we’re to be allocated a table by the rather steely receptionist when she permitted. Rather disconcerting. We had a light lunch and the rest of the staff were all very pleasant especially housekeeping who were very helpful . The food was excellent apart from a revolting celeriac starter, tepid and slimy. The Xmas pud was excellent and the kind waitress brought extra brandy sauce. The breakfasts were good and there was a well stocked buffet. My husband checked the bill and found they had overcharged him by a considerable amount which was rectified although I found when I checked the bill they had included drinks over Xmas lunch which we did not have. They supply a hamper for Christmas Day evening which is a bit odd as other Devonshire hotels provided a generous buffet in the comfort of their lounges rather than being dismissed back to their rooms ,rather like being in disgrace at boarding school but with a midnight feast! The bartender Adam really redeemed this place by suggesting we might like our hamper in the bar and he would provide cutlery as we were trying to warm up and then at my request lit the wood stove. Other guests also appreciated that. The place closed at 8.45 that day. Our driver came a little early on Boxing Day and I wasn’t sorry. And please make sure the curtain hooks are checked. My bête noire is dropping curtains.

Stayed here 3 times previously and really enjoyed every aspect of it. Stayed this week and it was really poor. Afternoon lunch was poor in options and over priced, I got food poisoning and was sick all night, told them and had no reaction or concern. ||Service was poor, couldn’t get served at the bar and found 2 staff hiding, sitting chatting in the conservatory. ||This is meant to be under the Chatsworth brand, so expected so much more. ||Sad really as this place was GREAT in the past. ☹️||||Save your money go elsewhere.

Prebooked afternoon tea for 2. It was excellent and surpassed expectations. Scones were warm as if baked immediately as was the sausage pie. Attentive service by cheerful staff. There is nothing we can fault.
