Very welcoming team with friendly service. The rooms were nice, and they have pet friendly options. The location in the center of town is a nice plus too.
Spending time in the pub was always an enjoyable experience, with several draft options. The kitchen staff takes great pride in their work, and it shows. We never had a bad meal here! It's not your standard pub fare. They experiment with different flavors and styles, always with exceptional results.

relatives booked a room here and reported that the rooms were excellent value for money - £65 saturday night.|we met them for dinner and the evening was lovely. |Kim has done a good job with her team in making this a good place to stay or eat locally and we will use it often now. |we booked a table for 9 and added to it at 30mins notice - no problem. |the staff were all friendly and even though they had a big function on they still managed to be as attentive to us as we needed. |the food is excellent value for money and the menu varied enough for our lot.

Me and my family stayed at the bell hotel last weekend, and the family room we booked into was fantastic value for money. It was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. To my joy the room wasn’t cluttered and busy like many hotels tend to be, just tastefully decorated with everything we needed for the duration of our stay. The bar/restaurant had a very friendly, warm and welcoming vibe, and the menu had plenty of variety without being overwhelming! The restaurant also offers a fantastic range of smoked meats including beef brisket and succulent pulled pork! I’d highly recommend the bell hotel if you’re looking for value, cleanliness and great hospitality!

Tired basic rooms ok for the one night but I won’t return, a little too fusty and in need of refurbishing. It was a very hot day and there arent even desk fans in the room. The location for parking is a mystery tour experience and good luck finding a spot if you can locate it, however staff are helpful and pleasant and the pub seems popular and lively, and quietens down mid week after 8pm so guests aren’t disturbed. Sadly the kitchens weren’t open at the time of the stay and it would have been helpful to know that prior to booking. Nothing wrong with this very basic accommodation but would suggest if anyone is travelling for business and has a long drive hoping for some comforts maybe give this a miss. It’s much in need of decoration, decent furniture and carpeting.

A comfortable night followed by a truly great breakfast. A great start to a Sunday morning. This is the first time we have stopped at the hotel and were greeted to a very warm welcome. Nothing was to much trouble for any of the staff. Would definitely stop again.

First of all the positives of the free parking and the friendly staff were great, we got our key early and then it went a bit downhill.
Up the stairs we go, back in time 30 years when the rooms were last updated. The bathroom had chipped and broken floor tiles, the shower cold, carpets dirty, no Wi-Fi, the window cannot be locked securely and closes under it's own weight, every surface above 3 feet is dusty and to finish off above the uncomfortable bed is a broken light fixture that hums incessantly above your head, illuminated by the street light that isn't blocked out by the tiny curtain.
In desperate need of a deep clean and it'll actually be worth the cheap price tag.
Edit: wish I could post a picture of the filthy head board and the broken light, alas I can't

Family stayed over and said that the room they had was excellent value for the £65 they paid on a Saturday night.
We all went for dinner. We added 3 more to our party of 8 at the last minute and they coped well.
Made us very welcome
Good knowledge of their gf menu options. Despite also having a 50guest function on at the same time, the service was fabulous!
The food was excellent value and everyone enjoyed their meals. The specials board had some good choices that expanded the menu.

Great night sleep - bed was very comfortable. Superb breakfast - the full English breakfast was well cooked and there was plenty of it. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Also it is a Georgian coaching inn so the building has lots of character.
