Very small village so no noise or scumbags here. The place is tastefully decorated and well cleaned. Staff were smartly dressed and polite. Food was well above average it's obvious they have a chef in the back who is tasting things and who cares about what leaves the cooking area. Well done to them and their team. Rooms are again very tastefully decorated and clean. Free parking and prices are genuinely good value. Can't fault a thing. Would come back again.

I felt so welcomed here (I was on my own and recovering from surgery, so I felt a bit vulnerable). I'd visited Belsay Hall, Gardens And Castle during the day so it was nice to have somewhere so nice to relax in the evening. |Everyone was lovely, the room was perfect (comfortable, warm, clean) and the food was incredible. I'll definitely stay again.

Excellent!
Third time we've been recently for a meal and every time its been brilliant. Today we took three generations of family for a Christmas Sunday Lunch - and once again we were not disappointed:
Food - top notch - and totally fair price
Staff - friendly, helpful, attentive
Venue - Excellent - and icing on cake was a fantastic Christmas Tree being put up outside when we got there! Very impressed - makes the Village of Whalton just look so lovely and even more welcoming.
Thank you πŸ™‚

Visited today 17/11 after walking around Bolam lakes. Popped in and got a seat in the bar. Very friendly staff, lovely pint of guiness and the best fish and chips I've ever had in a pub. Definitely visit again

Check in for our rooms was friendly and quick. The accommodation was lovely and warm on arrival, very comfortable bed. We had a lovely meal that evening and delicious breakfast in the morning before check out. We wished we could have stayed longer.

We stayed in the family suite at the beresford arms for one night. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant and enjoyed breakfast in the morning. I have to say I couldn't fault it. The room was absolutely wonderful, spacious , clean , and beautifully decorated. They had thought of everything, there was even fresh milk in the fridge for an arrival drink!. The customer service was fantastic, a lovely gentleman showed us to our room and even said we could use the temporary bouncy castle they had set up in the garden for an upcoming event, which our kids (and we) loved. The service in the bar was very friendly and the quality of the food is very good. I had the pork loin and it was of Michelin star quality. I highly recommend this place whether you are looking for somewhere to stay for a break or a local wanting a drink and a meal.

Second booking in a row bizarrely cancelled by a team who are clearly very concerned about people regularly not turning up. No surprise given the attitude problem of the people on the phone. Absolutely no need and won’t be visiting again.

I came for dinner on Saturday night with my kids and the grandparents and it was absolutely stellar. Bacon chop came with amazing slightly chillied pineapple and the panhaggerty that came with the pork belly was just perfect. Ginger parkin for dessert was the highlight though. Absolute must try. The staff were lovely and the service a nice unhurried pace. They also have half price mains in January
