Husband and I rang and had impromptu dinner this evening. Food was excellent, well priced, lovely portion sizes. Steak pie was so succulent and I upgraded from mash to fries no additional charge. Lady behind the bar so open and welcoming. Definitely a return visit in order.

Stayed here for one night due to working away in the area.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, great atmosphere in the pub and the locals were all welcoming.

Plenty of parking in the car park and safe too for work vehicles.

Rooms were good, bedsheets extremely soft and plenty of pillows. Shower had good power and pressure, spacious room in general and nothing to moan about. Fan provided during the hot weather and windows also open.

Food was excellent and well priced for dinner, plenty of options for drinks and once again prices were fair. Couldn’t fault the service from the staff.
Breakfast in the morning was the same great quality, the staff member couldn’t have been more helpful and I didn’t wait long for the cooked brekkie.
Will definitely stay here again, as well as other engineers from our firm when working in this area.

Local shops about 7 minutes away including a large Waitrose, which is a bonus as I’d run out of deodorant!

My husband and I stayed here. This is our 3rd night. I cannot praise the service and friendly staff enough. The vibes were great and attitude was customer-centric. This is the best kept secret, nestled away in the tranquility of north Devon. Keith and his team were absolutely fantastic!!!

We (wife and daughter) called off here for dinner after a couple of nights in Cornwall. The restaurant seemed quite quiet with only two tables occupied and a few locals at the bar…one of whom was openly vaping.

We quickly ordered our food but then ended up waiting 55 minutes for it to arrive! After 50 minutes i asked them politely to cancel the order as we had a young child with us who was now going to be well overdue for bed —the lady replied “no no no , its ready now”. The food was then promptly served with attitude and NO APOLOGY for the wait. We weren’t once asked how the food was or if we were enjoying our meal. The couple on the table next to us were also telling us that their food took ages to arrive and “wasn’t worth the wait”. After 20 minutes of them leaving, their empty plates were still sat on the table.

Our food wasn’t worth the wait - wife’s pizza was soggy and hard way too much tomato purée on the base. My hunters chicken looked like it was served on a kids plate and the chicken was tough.my place mat was sticky and the floor was dirty littered with food.

The staff on duty this evening cl;early just couldn’t be bothered and had no regard for the success of this business or no idea of customer service.

Very friendly staff. I was passing through stopped for a quick drink. Large car park, electric vehicle charging, great location.
The pub has a great traditional atmosphere.

Our party of 3 booked Christmas Day Lunch. The meal was absolutely delicious. No complaints in that department. I don't think there was enough staff to cope with the amount of covers as there was a long wait in between courses. It made no difference to us but there were a few disgruntled customers.

Visited here for Sunday dinner, and was not disappointed. Absolutely beautiful food. Can definitely recommend a visit.
