We booked a table for 3 at The Boarding House in Howwood at short notice and were delighted with the experience. They accommodated us without any hassle.

My partner and I had our 3-year-old with us, and the staff were absolutely amazing with her—so friendly, patient, and genuinely welcoming.

The food was delicious and great value for money, and the service throughout was fantastic. We felt really well looked after. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxed

Booked this restaurant for 70th Birthday party. Staff were superb. Allowed table to be decorated with balloons prior to arrival. Staff very helpful in dealing with Birthday cake surprise and even sang Happy Birthday. Waitress was very good the whole night. Food was absolutely brilliant. Everyone had a great time.

A lovely little find while I was up north 😍
Very pleasant and helpful staff, fantastic food and a great atmosphere. Lots of parking and easy to find. You do need to book (cos everyone loves it!) and I wasn't paying attention today on how accessible the place is (sorry!). Highly recommend

A long time since I visited the Boarding House. It WAS very good however I was disappointed after my visit yesterday. The service was the slowest I've ever experienced. There was only one girl serving. It wasn't busy when we arrived but we still waited an hour to get our food. 2 salads. How can 2 salads take an hour to produce? The coffee and cake were very good, the main course not so good. Can't see myself rushing back.

Food was overpriced microwave meals. My husband has a peanut allergy and when asked if there were peanuts in his meal the waiter staff said "the box says no peanuts", confirming it was some kind of premade meal that came out barely warm and charged £17 for. We were in for about 20 minutes before drink orders were taken and there were more waiters working than customers. The Saturday evening menu is horrific, especially when we only booked having looked at the a la carte menu prior. Very poor, overpriced experience. Out of a party of 8, 1 person said the food 'wasn't that bad'.

We just had lunch at The Broading House sadly it was very disappointed indeed, the food wasnt great but the service especially was terrible from staff, we had to return one of the main course as
the beef was very tough and roast potatoes were overdone waited for over an hour after plates were clear before we finally got a staff memeber's attention as we want to order desert and coffee and when they came over they handed us the bill without asking if we wanted any other food or drinks. Sadly will not be recommending this place to anyone.

The team at The Boarding House are always fantastic, and it’s hard to single out individuals because everyone is so great. However, we recently hosted a surprise 30th birthday party there, using the conservatory for dining and upstairs facilities, and we were blown away by the experience!

Leanne and Karen were incredible from the planning stages right through to the execution on the night. Their attention to detail was spot on, and they were always smiling, kind, and professional.

On the night, Susan was fantastic—she accommodated the party seamlessly and made our special cocktails that got everyone dancing! Special mention to the other gentlemen who helped at the bar also!

Logan provided exceptional service at our table, catering to everyone attentively. His polite and professional manner made a real difference, and he’s truly an asset to the team.

Logan, (a manager I believe), has always been brilliant whenever we’ve visited The Boarding House. Whether he’s ensuring a smooth dining experience or simply stopping by to say hello, his friendliness and professionalism never go unnoticed. He was outstanding throughout the entire planning process and on the day itself.

A special mention to Mirren, who went above and beyond to engage with our little nephew, making him feel so welcome. Her kindness and patience were greatly appreciated—she’s a real gem in the team.

Overall, The Boarding House is a true hidden gem—a fantastic venue for a meal or special event. We highly recommend it to anyone planning a gathering or just looking for a great dining experience.

Well done, Boarding House team! 👏🏽
