Disappointing visit. Despite website and A board at Canalside indicating opens at 12 for food, finally discovered after waiting 20 mins that it is not open at that time.||Maybe as well as looks really scruffy and uncared for outside, and popped back over the M5 to Compass Inn at North Petherton and had a friendly welcome and great food.

Called in for a Sunday carvery - Easter Sunday. No booking.
Some staff may perhaps not be the most chatty, by the carvery was one best I have had, excellent pork and beef, served up by a friendly chef.

Lovely staff! The rooms are nice and clean. Cannot rate their attention to dietry requirements high enough. Most food places are pretty poor on allergy help etc but they were amazing. I cannot eat dairy and my sister is a gluten free vegan, in most places this would be very limiting. We had a carvery, and as soon as I went to collect my food, the chef told us exactly which foods we could and couldn't eat. They even prepared extra veg for us to replace the ones we couldn't have. The food we did have was very good!
