A cosy pub/hotel. Positioned on the sea front, our room had unspoiled views of the sea. We found our room clean and tidy and nicely decorated.
We had one evening meal in the restaurant area. It was very tasty. Breakfast offered fresh locally sourced ingredients. The best breakfast choices we've had for a long time.
All of the staff were friendly whilst remaining professional at all times. They were welcoming and informative. We will definitely stay at The Boathouse again. Thanks so much to all.

We decided to try here for a non residents breakfast, we usually go elsewhere locally that do a great breakfast but fancied a change and the Boathouse is in a beautiful location with nice outside seating area. We were greeted by a lovely lady on the desk who was very attentive, polite and good fun putting up with our bad jokes. The breakfast was beautifully freshly cooked and hot. The sausage and bacon was top quality, the poached egg was cooked to perfection and I really liked the toasted cheese scone which was a nice alternative to toast. Even got Heinz tomato ketchup (my favourite). Hats off to the chef for a nicely cooked breakfast with quality ingredients. Coffee was from a bean to cup machine so it was okay, but I'm fussy and like proper barista made coffee. The only let down (and why I did not give a 5 star rating) is that there were no beans, not even an option to buy as an extra. For this reason alone the rest of my family said they would not return. I would highly recommend that you put beans on your menu as a extra so diners can choose. It would also have been nice if the 3 huge umbrellas had been up to shade us from the sun but they remained down during our visit and there were no shady areas outside.

Review is based on what I'm looking for. I can see that others would rate this higher.
I really wanted a good roast and pint of real ale on a Sunday, and had visited this pub in the past. Neither were available sadly. I'm just not a grilled lobster ? fan, and other items too upmarket for my taste. So it's probably great food, if this is what you're after.

Really good food. Fish menu depends on what they have caught so fresh AF. Really nice location with a great view. The staff were also great very helpful and accommodating. We all had fish but in particular the tuna steak was cooked like a fillet steak.. melted in the mouth with the black garlic butter, was insane!

Would love to review the food, but we didn't even get to eat here. We had a reservation at 7, with two young children. By the time they got around to take our order, it was 7.40, and we were then told the food would take a long time because there was only one chef.

I understand these things happen in the hospitality industry, however it is not beyond reasonable to expect to be informed of this when we enter the establishment.

The simple things matter.

It's a lovely location, seafront next to a nice park and across the road from the beach. You ignored the Tripadvisor reviews but a small alarm bell rings when you pull up into the car park, almost empty on a Sunday lunchtime.|You're escorted to your table, noting one other small party dining and you count over 20 empty tables. A few people are having a drink on the sunny terrace.|Menus are handed out but then you wait and wait for some service. After 25 minutes without even a drinks order, never mind the food, you go up to the bar where 3 staff members are chatting in the empty room.|Almost an hour after first arriving, your main courses appear. Your companions' mussels and sea bass are nice but your lamb is tough, chewy and tasteless. The Yorkshire pudding is dry, atomising into powder when you bite into it, like an oversized prawn cracker. You have some cauliflower cheese, overcooked and scorched, a few florets served in a dish the size of a yoghurt pot. You paid an extra £4 for this.|You're not sure whether to go for dessert but the chocolate parfait with peanut butter ice cream sounds tempting. After another long wait, you get two petit-four sized slivers of chocolate served with a golfball-sized scoop of vanilla ice cream and what looks like two blobs of squirty cream. This was £11, about what you'd pay for dessert in Mayfair. |You think about questioning it but by this point you're late for the ferry and just want to pay up and go.|The Boat House's website and adventurous menu give the impression of aspiring to some kind of upscale, fine dining establishment. You're not sure this matches your experience.|You think it's a nice location and you might enjoy one of their well kept beers on the terrace next time you're in the area. But you'll skip the lunch if that's all the same.

Hi, I left a 5 star review as I feel the stay was brilliant value for money. We had a twin room 408 for 79£. Room was small but adequate. Lots of hot water. I wanted more teabags and milk and was provided for with a smile. The best veggie breakfast I've ever had! And Carol who served us at breakfast was really lovely. Thank you all ?
