I really enjoyed my stay here on a recent trip down from Scotland. The rooms aren’t quite as polished as they look on the website but they’re definitely clean and comfortable, and the staff are all very friendly and welcoming (special shout-out to Claire, the cleaner, for going above and beyond!). I had some trouble getting my shower to work and this was sorted out very quickly and with minimal fuss. The pub downstairs is cosy and reasonably priced. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

The description on internet said ncluded breakfast in price, rang the owner to book, first mistake, he took my name and card details which in good faith I gave him, then when I mentioned breakfast he said they don't do it, then said it was non refundable. |Went to place after the 2pm book in, hadn't even got my receipt ready, had to ask twice more. He muttered something as though I shouldn't be there yet, then took me to the Pheasant Room. Disgusting, paint flaking of windows, walls.in need of paint, dusty filthy place. Brushed cotton bedding very aged. Shared bathroom again very dreary.|Went to open window found smoking shelter was just outside. |I have never not stayed where I've booked, on this occasion I made other arrangements and returned later to take room key, had to ask for receipt again, gave him key and said I wouldn't be staying. |Shame, looked after, with a pleasant host this place set in a lovely village could be so nice, don't recommend! |I never write reviews but on this occasion from start to finish a bad experience.

We had a completely miserable experience. Like another reviewer, we were told on arrival that they had sacked their chef, so there was no food on site. ?We had booked what they called a Deluxe Double with Bath, and it did have a bath. That's the only part of the description which is accurate. The bed was badly broken. ||The staff seemed helpful, offering to have the bed replaced while we were out for the day. When we got back we discovered they had just lied to end the conversation. There had been no attempt to fix the bed. They also lied to us about providing a refund. We were initially told they would take a night off our bill, but once they realised we had booked through booking.com we were told to go through them. ||Booking.com refused us a refund because they claimed to offer another room, even though they only have one with an en suite bath. Also, neither of them acknowledged that they are false advertising by claiming to have a restaurant which does a full English breakfast in the mornings.

On a friends recommendation we visited today, whilst in the area.

Seven of us had food and seven of us were incredibly satisfied. Food selection on the menu was great and all was pleasingly well priced.

Wonderful ambience about the place; real home like feel. The sort of place you could while away many a lazy hour whilst feasting on the sumptuous food.

Service was excellent throughout.

Thoroughly recommend to anyone to make a point of visiting should you be in the area, and perhaps even if you're not!

Try the buffalo wings and seasoned fries *chefs kiss*

Decided to treat ourselves to some pub grub and we were not disappointed. All 3 courses were really good. My wife had halloumi fries and I had the mini baked camembert. Helped myself to some of my wife's pie (Beef and ale), pastry was gorgeous, my steak was cooked to perfection (wife wouldn't touch it because I have it medium rare - bonus) and we opted to go for the pavlova pudding and the sticky toffee pudding. Both amazing. They were promoting the gin of the week which looked good (not my thing, but wifey enjoyed two of them) and my red wine that I had with the steak was delicious. Nice decor throughout, and they even have a pool table which you don't often see. Great little venue all round.

Online it looked like a great place to lay your head and get a good meal - sadly upon arrival we were told they no longer serve food as they have sacked the chef. We were handed a hand towel to use in the shower for the week and were kept awake by rowdy punters. We ended up buying our own bath towels. When we complained we were basically told to get stuffed, likewise by booking.com whom the room was booked with - we have also been blocked by them from leaving a review on their site. Very poor and terrible attitude from the staff. Avoid.

The Boot Inn is run down past its best. They advertised that they have a functioning restaurant, when we arrived we were informed that the restaurant was closed as they had sacked the chef. The pub is in a little village with no shop. We would not have booked this accommodation if we had known the restaurant had been closed for months, this is false advertising.|The room was basic, however the bed was broken, it was a safety risk and not fit for purpose, the only place for this bed should have been a skip. The mattress was past its best with springs that dug in your back and the base was badly broken. This room was advertised as a deluxe double. When we complained to the staff member we told they would fix it while we were at a wedding. However they made no attempt to sort the bed. A truly awful place to stay.
