We stayed locally but we popped in because we liked the look of the breakfast menu. We came back every day we were in York. The breakfast was excellent, the staff were great (especially the cook), impeccably clean and my girlfriend and I loved the motown. We'll be back next time.

I love this bar.. Always a great afternoon (happy hour) or evening.. atmosphere always great.. Staff brilliant.. But i was really disappointed this Friday evening as a man came in with his dog ( an Alsatian) then just let it get on to a seat.. Not a good look or sitting there getting dog hairs on your clothes... 🙄

Great Location. Bed was comfy. Had a warm welcome when we arrived. (Pub looked nice, though we never drank in there during our stay). Powerful Shower.||Downsides, can be noisy, but you are staying above a pub, so it is what it is. The bathroom is a bit tired. The shower door doesn't close so impossible not to get water on the floor. Toilet seat was loose. If these minor repair issues were addressed it would be a pretty good room. ||For a couple of nights, we had a perfectly fine stay.

Average pub based accommodation. Very convenient location for the centre of York. Room was somewhat cramped single bed and limited facilities. The room was not tidied or cleaned so things like dirty coffee cup wasn’t washed or changed. Breakfast was avoided as dire old school menu unable to cater for vegan. On the positive the room was relatively quiet despite late night music and people noise from downstairs in the pub itself.

A great place to stay with you're in York. Close to the centre, cozy and very friendly. Comfortable, warm rooms with hot and cold breakfast in the pub.

The pub is cozy and quiet so no worry about noise at night. We had our own key for the main door and the staff were all so helpful and friendly.

We enjoyed our stay. It's not the best place I've ever stayed but not the worst either. Only a 10 minute walk from the train station. Very central, not far from York Minster and The Shambles, definitely a great location. Nice pubs, shops and cafes near by as well. Our room was River Ouse it was small but had everything we needed. Decent bed (bit firm for me fine for hubby) it had tea/coffee, hair dryer and iron. Toiletries in the bathroom and the shower was good though wee black bit fell off it when in use. The silicone could be doing with being replaced, it made the otherwise lovely bathroom look a bit grubby. It is a bit noisy so my sleep was a bit disrupted but given the location it was fine. Breakfast was good! Not a lot on the continental but the cooked breakfast was great. My husband raved about the sausages. Staff from checking in, serving drinks and at breakfast were all fabulous. Very friendly and attentive. Also the pub is lovely.

Visited the Bootham Tavern for breakfast. Really lovely place, quiet, warm, welcoming and the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very nice and very affordable- £10 for an all inclueded full english and hot drink each!!

The Bootham Tavern is a traditional cosy pub away from the tourist area. There is an excellent selection of draught beers, including 3 hand pulled cask conditions, real ales, which were in excellent condition when we visited. There's no pool table or dart board the staff are very welcoming, and the pub is dog friendly.
