Booked this room according to reviews and I had a wedding in the village when I checked in to room 5 an over whelming smell was in the room damp and muggy the lady quickly opened the window I looked around and was shocked the furniture was so old and tatty the bedding was old the towels looked rough I had five mins to get ready there was one light near the door and the mirror was so high I couldn’t see but I had to get changed and leave. While I was at the church I was trying to get in touch with booking.com but couldn’t at midnight I arrived back The smell was to much so I got my things together and decided to sleep in my car u till daylight as I had no where else to go. Which is what I done I left the keys and went into my car in a dark car park with no cameras so wifely so un safe. The owner called the next morning and said he would refund me. My question is. Are the other rooms the same and how did this place get 8.6 reviews so disappointed

My partner and I had a room booked for our anniversary and wanted to explore the city for the weekend. I spoke to the owner, Bob a few days before to confirm my stay, mind you this took many many phone calls and two emails just to get in touch. On the day of arrival, we were already in Cambridge, I received an email cancelling our stay. No direct contact from Bob until I phoned up. He offered a weak apology about plumbing problems and our room was now not available. In a panic we then had to find somewhere else to stay last minute and lost valuable time we would have spent in the city.
He did say we could stay in the future with a discount but after the poor customer service, I think we’ll skip staying at The Brambles and choose someone else. A phone call from him before I’d seen the email would have made a big difference.

Absolutely lovely stay at The Brambles whilst visiting Cambridge and Ely. Bob, the owner, was extremely hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. Delicious, and filling, breakfast with plenty of choice. Our rooms were lovely, very clean with brilliant power showers! Toweling robes provided, as well as a plentiful refreshments tray. Bob gave us some good advice on local places to eat, and on the Park & Ride for Cambridge. Highly recommended and we hope to return some time.

Nice quiet place to stay good location only 10 minutes from Cambridge by taxi. Friendly helpful owner, good breakfast including fresh fruit and a cooked breakfast. We took our bikes for the weekend and there's a large shed to put them overnight which is handy. Definitely recommend

I booked this hotel a day in advance. I called multiple times today and the phone was never answered. I arrived at night and was told that there were no rooms available and there must have been a problem with my booking. The manager honestly could not have cared less; he completely ignored my confirmation email, would not help me get it sorted, and didn't even let me wait in the lobby while I booked another hotel last-minute. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Lovely B&B. Well looked after and breakfast was great. Slept very well. The couple that was there looking after the place was very pleasant and helpful. We was put up in there by are company for the night and had a 7.5 ton truck on the drive. Didn't get a picture before I left as I was in a hurry to go pick up a piano to take back to Gateshead.

I booked The Brambles after reading all the great reviews, and the room and bathroom were very pleasant and clean. Breakfast was good although by the second morning I was very concerned about gluten cross-contamination in the kitchen. I am a coeliac and required gluten free bread but the regular toaster was used and we watched the GF bread get sliced on the bread board just used for normal toast. We also saw my partner's toast get dropped on the floor of the kitchen, picked up and put back in the toast rack before being served. I was also very disappointed when the cleaner was trying to access my room to clean during the middle of my stay while I was getting ready for a wedding, and then was told by the proprietor Bob I should have left that morning at 10am, despite our booking also being for that night. During this, the door was opened into the room on two occasions while I was not fully dressed, despite both Bob and the cleaner being aware I was still in the room. We both felt very uncomfortable after that and were concerned about privacy. The Brambles was a convenient place to stay but I would not recommend it.

Just outside A10, with good connections to A14 and M11, The Brambles is a very warm, welcoming place to stay for one or more nights. The rooms are large, with generous bathroom with shower. Very clean and excellent located just a few miles from Cambridge. Yuri will prepare you a tasty breakfast.
