We visited here on Saturday afternoon after a lovely bicycle ride around the nearby villages. We were seated immediately and drinks orders were taken. We then ordered our food as we were very hungry. I had the sausage and mash, it was delicious but I couldn’t finish it, others definitely would have but I was full up. My hubby had the fish and chips, I had a small taste as he kept saying about the batter being amazing (he normally doesn’t eat the batter) I’m so glad I had some, it was THE best fish I have eaten. Crispy light batter and beautiful moist fish. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Thank you to all the staff and chefs that made this visit very enjoyable. We will be back.

Amazing food and atmosphere. We were served by a very friendly and polite gentleman the bar staff were great too. Such great good choices and we were so impressed. We went with 2 small children and they were very happy with their meals and puddings. Highly recommend. We called last minute but it did get very busy towards the early evening so I recommend booking just in case

Based on previous reviews, chose this hostelry for 6 of us to stay for weekend dinner, b&b. Mainly a positive experience. Mal greeted us and explained the layout and meal times. Serving staff Wendy at breakfast and Jasmine in the evening were excellent. Good choice of lagers, bitters, whiskies and wines. Good food choices and all meals were excellent. Clean bar toilets. Would have loved to have given 5 stars, however there were some issues. Room 3 was lovely, however there was a nasty potent smell from the shower and basin drain holes and manager unable to resolve it or move us as all rooms were occupied. The shower water speed kept fluctuating when other rooms used water and the room was above the bar/kitchen where there were music and raised voices until at least midnight. Also some road noise as windows not closing fully. WiFi was off and on and finally there issues with both dinner bills as items added in error first night and omitted second night. Overall an enjoyable stay though, with pleasant walks in the area.

We very much enjoyed a Saturday evening meal at this family run pub. It was busy and the place had a good atmosphere. Matt who served us was very welcoming and Blake the chef served us up a treat. Both the starters and mains were extremely tasty and perfectly cooked. Thank you. We hope to visit again and will recommend to our friends and family.

Booked a table for an evening meal as we were staying in the village overnight. The gentleman serving our table Matthew was excellent giving great descriptions of the dishes on offer. I'm glad I chose the home made pie, it really was superb and the portion size was good. The head chef (think his name is Blake) clearly knows what he is doing as food texture was spot on, and far exceeded what I expected for pub food. I feel the dishes were good value for money and we were super happy with everything.

Went there for tea in. Great customer service, Jasmine served us along with the gents behind the bar/waiting. Got the steak and ale pie which was delicious, priced well too. Others got the chicken balti pie and fish and chips, all looked good. Good atmosphere would go again.

Drool worthy yumminess!!! The food is seasoned to perfection and came with a smile. ? Their gluten free selection is equally great. The chef clearly knows what he’s doing and delivers his craft at a mitchelin star level – it’s that good! Try it out, you won’t regret it! Total hidden gem

A beautiful old pub in a lovely village. The menu is excellent. We had the steak and ale pie, the duck and a burger between us - all the food was great and the service is fantastic. Ellie and Jasmine were brilliant hosts. I would highly recommend this pub for an evening meal - so good we went back a second time.
