As with many reviews of hospitality establishments, there are both Brickbats as well as Bouquets. |In our opinion, the latter is definitely the best option. |My wife and I have just returned home after two cosy nights, over Christmas in The Bull. An establishment, full of character, as would be expected in a 700 year old hostelry. The wine list, extensive, offering fine wines to titivate everyone's palate. The food, freshly prepared, tastefully (sic) presented and really tasty. So much so that my generous portion of braised Cheek in a Jus was so delish, I was vulgar and did my version of Oliver Twist and "Please may I have some more"?. Willingly ordered a second helping. To the charming owner Martin, nothing was too much trouble, the staff from the friendly reception Lydia, servers Dylan and Cassy(I think) offered superb, genuine top class customer service and we cannot wait to return.|Well done.

We had a family Christmas dinner with one couple staying the night. It was all so amazing that we've agreed this will hopefully be our new Christmas go to for our dinner! The room was also lovely and warm, big and well appointed. Thanks to all at The Bull

We stayed here last night and the pub closed at 9 pm and the food menu didn’t have much that we asked for, as that was closing early as well, and also got told to shut up !!.. and be quiet by 10pm by a customer!!!… which was very rude. Also were Not happy we had leave at 10 am

Great experience here, can't fault it. Martin was quick to respond to some questions I had when booking. Very comfortable room, great meal, excellent wine list, and the service from Dylan was perfect. Highly recommended!

Worst stay we’ve ever had. Room was too hot even with radiators off and window open. Generator outside bedroom window so too noisy to sleep with it open. When heating starts in the morning for the rest of the hotel at 6am the pipes clang and click under the floorboards waking us up. Breakfast order was taken wrong on 3 occasions and when I finally got my poached eggs they were raw inside! Coffee was no better than dish water.

Went to eat last Sunday. Both had a roast. I had half a chicken which was the size of a quarter of a chicken. It was overcooked and the meat stuck to the bone it was so hard. 4 measly small potatoes and a cabbage stalk with no Babbage on it. Daughter had beef. She couldn’t even cut it. It was tough. Would have helped slightly if she had been given a steak knife. Both were very disappointed. None of the other tables were cleared just felt dirty. Never will go back never will recommend. Waiters were good.

I had booked another hotel for my partners 40th birthday. When we arrived it was awful and I decided not to stay there. We found the Bull and thankfully they had one room available! The staff were so welcoming and the location is lovely. Our room was homely, clean and comfortable. We had a nice view from our window and we both slept well both nights we were there. The only sound was local church bells which was really nice 🙂
On the first night we ate in the restaurant. The service was excellent, the waitress was really friendly and helpful and the food was delicious!
We had breakfast both mornings which included juices, yogurts, cereal, tea/ coffee, toast, a range of marmalade, jam and honey and the option of a full English breakfast. The breakfast was also delicious and the service at breakfast was also excellent.
The restaurant/ pub/ bar area is a really nice place to sit and enjoy a meal or a drink.
We would definitely recommend the Bull as a hotel and as a restaurant.
We’re really lucky we found this place after the bad start to our trip and my partner ended up having a lovely birthday! Thanks to everyone at The Bull!
