Right, let’s be honest… The Buxted Inn under the old owners? Snobby vibes, over-promised “high-end” nonsense, mediocre food, zero atmosphere — it was more pantomime fine dining than actual quality. Safe to say, we stopped going.||BUT… word on the street was new management had taken over and turned the place around, so we thought we’d risk it — booked dinner AND a room to make a proper night of it. Genuinely, couldn’t believe the transformation.||The food? Absolutely banging. We kicked off with the Chicken Wings (sticky, crispy, proper messy — perfect), and the Smoked Mackerel Pate — fresh, creamy, served with actual bread, not those weird dry crackers of the past.||For mains — I had the Braised Lamb Shank swimming in rich, hearty gravy, melting off the bone, and the other half tucked into the Truffle Wild Mushroom Rigatoni — creamy, packed with flavour, and finally, a veggie option that doesn’t feel like an afterthought.||The wine list? Thank the lord, sorted! Loads by the glass — not just house white or questionable red — but proper, decent options. We tried a few because… well, it’d be rude not to.||The service? Friendly, welcoming, buzzing atmosphere — the Irish fella behind the bar was full of beans (possibly too many!) but gave us a laugh and clearly cares. Better than being ignored like before.||Stayed overnight — absolute winner. The rooms? Spotlessly clean, comfy bed, lovely bathroom — yes, they’re a bit dated, but had a chat with the owners (who were floating around actually talking to customers — refreshing change), and they explained plans are already in motion: full refurb on the way, new TVs, air con, the works. They’ve only been in a few months and it shows they’re cracking on with sorting it.||Breakfast smashed it too. Proper fry-up, fresh coffee, everything cooked well — no floppy toast or sad sausages here.||Overall? It finally feels like The Buxted Inn has proper life in it — welcoming, fun, cracking food, great drinks, friendly faces. We’ll 100% be back — for food, for wine, for a night away. Finally giving the village pub it deserves.||Fair play to the new owners — you’ve turned it around. Keep going!

Family stayed here before our wedding. We contacted via phone and despite our big group, they were very accommodating. We had drinks' dinner and then stayed the night. The owners who I believe have recently taken over were very nice. There were a few small issues with the launch of the new food menu but this was rectified quickly l. The food was generally very good. The rooms were very practical. The beds were comfortable' showers hot and all was clean and very good value.

Visited whilst attending a family do in Uckfield. This was a great find . The bathrooms are fantastic with the latest powerful modern showers. Rooms are good sized and clean and comfortable. We had a great meal in the inn restaurant too. Breakfast was very tasty too.
It is located in a small village and has its own car park with plenty of room . Well worth booking if you are visiting the area.

Stayed one night while attending a family party. Friendly welcome, extremely well appointed bed room and lovely staff.
We were asked to preorder breakfast, which is fine but it would have been good to see some fruit, cereals and a little more choice.

We stayed just one night and selected the location as it was close to Buxted Park and within a short drive of Ardingly Showground.

The room was alright, could have done with better lighting, but otherwise good. We had dinner downstairs in the bar which was a bit quieter once all the children had left!

The only downer was the breakfast and which wasn’t included n the room price and was a little uninspired.

Our family group of six, which included two children, had brunch at The Buxted Inn today. We have visited many times previously and have always enjoyed the experience but today was the first time under the new management.|Well we all had really great food that was well presented and was also well priced. There was plenty of choice on the interesting menu. The service and welcome was excellent. Empty plates all round.|I would thoroughly recommended The Buxted Inn.

We stayed at the Buxted Inn recently because of it's proximity to a wedding we had the following day. The car park was full so parking was a bit tricky. The welcome and pub was fine and the room a little tired but fairly clean and practical. The big issue we had was the raucous cackling, shouting, chanting and general noise until almost 1am from the pub. There was not a chance of getting any sleep until they finally left an hour after closing. We are not naive and knew there would be pub noise but this was well beyond a fair time and the shouting was unbelievably loud. The sound insulation in the rooms is poor so you could hear doors slamming regularly and people's conversations in the next room.
It was a real shame as the staff were polite and friendly and the breakfast fair for the price. Would not return if I needed a good night's sleep.
