This is the second stay we have had here. Absolutely wonderful place, beautiful home cooked food, lovely staff so friendly & an authentic type decor.
Bed was incredibly comfortable in the gorgeous room we had.
I would really recommend it here & within easy reach of other places of interest. Can’t praise it enough.

Generally ok; comfortable bed, quiet rural location and good off road parking. We have stayed here twice before and booked to stay again but found our visit this time not quite as we'd hoped. We received a curt greeting on arrival that felt quite cool and we were asked for the room fee upfront more or less straightaway. ||We were told beforehand that rooms were deep cleaned before guests arrived but as the photos show, there was dust and cobwebs present. This is an important issue for us as my wife has a severe allergy to dog spores and we booked to stay because of the claimed 'deep cleaning'. The bedside lamp was loose on its stand and easily knocked over if touched. During our stay, the nights were cool but we couldn't put any heating on as the CH must have been switched off.||On our return one afternoon, there was a pile of laundry bags in the hall outside of our room, which stayed there all night - good job we didn't have to get out in a rush!||The bathroom was very tired with missing grouting, broken plug chain and loose toilet flush handle along with peeling paint on the bath panel. During our stay, plumbers arrived to access our bathroom to fit new shower parts whilst we were in the room. We hadn't been informed that this was happening at any point until a knock on the door by the plumber (who was very courteous and apologetic)||Whilst we were there, there was refurbishment being carried out by decorators in the bar, access hall and dining room. The decorator arrived at 6pm and was working until late each of the 3 nights we stayed. The first evening, painting was being done whilst we were having our evening meal and whilst the paint odour wasn't strong, it was noticeable. The next day, the dining room was off limits as the decorator was preparing the dining room for painting that evening. Again we hadn't been informed that refurbishment was taking place during our stay. The decorator was a very nice guy with a good banter and excellent hand to eye coordination!||Our experience of the evening meal was very good and the food was very well prepared. However, the breakfast, which on our previous visits was table service with an excellent choice, was very, very disappointing. Apart from a choice of 3 not very appetising looking cereals, only a full English (or parts thereof) seemed available, there was no Muesli or fruit etc. Coffee and tea were self service from urns, which is ok but the second morning there was no tea! ||On our first evening we had some drinks after the evening meal and instead of putting these on the final bill, we had to pay for these before we left the bar. Last times we stayed, we paid for all our meals and drinks on leaving in the final bill.||It is regretful to give such a negative review after our previous stays and hopefully the new owners can refurbish the Castle Arms and offer a service equal to our previous experience.

We were a party of 6 who stayed overnight as part of a longer motorcycle tour. Our 5 quiet well decorated and appointed rooms were located across the courtyard and guaranteed a good night’s sleep. That evening the pub was busy with both visitors and locals. However, that did not affect the friendly and attentive service. Suffice to say we all enjoyed the meal and appreciated how hard the owners servers and kitchen worked. On the Sunday morning the chef was kind enough to open early and offer a full cooked menu. Prices we thought very reasonable and the location is perfect for visitors who would enjoy walking in the local area. A very enjoyable experience.

Great pub. We had a stop over for 1 night. We enjoyed the best dinner and breakfast of our 2 week holiday, and the wine and beer were first class. We really enjoyed all our meals, especially the triple cooked chips - cooked by Adrian himself.
Will definitely be back. We had a great welcome and our 2 dogs were very well accommodated for.

The land lady was very friendly and welcoming. The fod was amazing and full of flavour. We will definitely come back and highly recommend you pay them a visit, either for a friendly drink and a warm welcome or an amazing meal. 5 stars 🌟

Stayed here for the night with my partner and my dog on holiday. My partner had been fantasising about eating next to a fire and the lady serving us was very happy to put the fire on especially for us and seat us next to there, such lovely service and all the staff were super friendly and helpful.
The food was really tasty, I recommend the pie with mash wholeheartedly. And the room was lovely, we enjoyed a bath which was comfy enough for two, the water came out so fast and hot and the bed was hands down one of the comfiest night sleep ever for me. I did not want to wake up.
Beautiful little village too. So glad we found this place

Absolutely mortified, paid for two nights, arrived the Friday night, we went out for the day in our camper on the Saturday in Masham! (Lovely day) To come back to find someone had parked their camper right next to our drive away awning, respectfully went to the pub to explain that someone had parked, so we couldn’t get our camper back in our space! They said they don’t reserve places, but were happy to take payment for two nights, basically threw away all responsibility to us and we would have to move to another spot, with no EHU! The way it was dealt with was wrong, the people in the other camper were also rude and no respect for other campers! We were really enjoying our time there until this situation! We had planned for 6 adults to eat and have drinks that night in that castle inn, but ended up going to the Buck Inn 5 minutes up the road had wonderful food, drinks with a great atmosphere and wonderful hospitality!

Went for an evening meal and it was lovely! We had the grill night 2x grills and a bottle of wine for £40! Great deal, we had rump steak and the mixed grill. Both were lovely, the steak was over cooked but I didn’t mind as it was so tasty. There was a great selection for the house wines, the Merlot was really nice. We also stayed for the quiz night and it was a great atmosphere, would visit again. 🙂
