This is the for the Garden Room restaurant. We had an early bird lunch here which was very good value. £15 for 2 courses £20 for 3. Choice of starters were almost identical but tasty. Mains were small but well cooked. You would probably need 3 courses to satisfy you.

Service was friendly and efficient and the location can’t be beat. An easy walk in to Chatsworth. Prices are very high for a la carte. Even in London I haven’t seen someone charge Ā£16 for their desserts but I admire their nerve if people are prepared to pay it.

This hotel, set in and part of, the Chatsworth Estate deserves its five-star rating. From the moment you enter there is a sense of calm with the staff working with each other waiting to help. Nothing is too much trouble. Everything is taken care of. The location, amidst the Derbyshire hills and trees, brings its own beauty and peacefulness. Local walks start at the front door and extend across the estate, which includes Chatsworth House, well worth a visit. The ā€˜cosy’ rooms are spacious with the hotel benefiting from a recent extensive refurbishment. Everything works, which cannot be said of many hotels. The two restaurants, one for fine dining and the other its 8, or so, course ā€œSignatureā€ menu both benefit from the excellent chef and kitchen, which deservedly have a good reputation. Gluten free was managed very well. The only small issue, raised by many Trip Advisor reporters, is the delay in serving the courses at mealtimes. For us three courses in 2 ½ hours became more noticeable as the evening wore on. Name badges for all the staff would be a useful aid to communication. But we will most definitely return to enjoy the benefits of this small luxury hotel and its beautiful surroundings.

Comfortable, beautiful hotel with great staff. We stayed for a couple of nights in room 4, Boyle, lovely comfy bed, a great room with two chairs and wonderful view over to Chatsworth. (You can walk to Chatsworth, just go through the gate for a pleasant walk there). It’s the little extra touches, like the homemade biscuits and the shower/bath get and body lotion. All immaculately clean and lovely fluffy white towels. ||We also ate in the garden room on both nights, the food is great, good local produce, well cooked and presented. Yes, you may have to wait slightly longer but it’s not mass produced or ā€˜here’s one I made earlier’, ping! |Neither is it over priced, we had a selection of sandwiches and shared a plate of scones, with tea. It didn’t break the bank and you pay nearly the same for an M&S one without the setting and atmosphere. ||We’d definitely say to anyone if you want style, class, comfort with really good food and friendly welcoming staff come here and see for yourself.

Beautiful Setting, But Expensive and Poor Service||I’ve given this place multiple chances because it’s in such a beautiful location and I live nearby. Sadly, the service has been consistently poor. It takes far too long just to get a drink, and no one ever checks to see if you’d like another. On one visit, we asked to move outside—staff agreed, but no one brought our drinks over or followed up with us at all. For how expensive it is, the lack of basic service is really disappointing. This place has so much potential, but the experience just doesn’t live up to it.

Exceptional hotel in a wonderful location where you can walk into the grounds of Chatsworth House. Very comfortable, spacious and clean room. The hotel distinguishes itself with outstanding levels of service and Michelin quality food. A special thank you to George, the Maitre’D for taking care of us and to all the staff for such a lovely and relaxing stay.

While the Cavendish is undoubtedly a beautiful hotel in a stunning location I have to question its status of being ā€˜dog friendly’ at best I would describe it as ā€˜dog tolerant’ what the hotel marketing fails to tell you when it is describing where you can ONLY take your dog in the hotel is that the terrace is outside & uncovered and that the Garden room is a restaurant so unless you visit on a rare warm British summer day there is no where you can sit and enjoy a drink (in our case with extended family members). There are no bins for dog waste or water bowls readily available. As a dog owner you are literally housed in the ā€˜dog house’ on reflection it would be better for all in my opinion if the hotel didn’t allow dogs. |Additionally although all the staff were polite and friendly we found the food service to be incredibly slow, on both mornings we waited over an hour to be served our breakfast and the evening service was equally as slow. With the staff requiring numerous prompts from our party to come take orders or remind them we still hadn’t received drinks orders - if there was a shortage of staff our expectations were never once managed. The food was tasty when it eventually arrived but the service really took the edge off the occasion, as we were frustrated and hungry by the time it eventually arrived.

This small ā€œ Country House Hotelā€ is ideally located just a 25 minute walk across the Park to Chatsworth House. The rooms are adequate for a stay of a few nights, the staff were generally friendly and obliging and the food was tasty. However the service was variable which was disappointing……and the staff didn’t seem too bothered by the delays. |Just 14 miles from the bustling M1, past the crooked spire in Chesterfield, the Baslow/Bakewell area was a beautiful revelation and the hotel was ideal for two nights…….but the service issue needs to be addressed!!

What a lovely afternoon. We had afternoon tea for my wife's birthday and they surprised her with a lovely plate, decorated with chocolate sauce saying happy birthday and a couple of pieces of fudge.

The afternoon tea itself was delicious. Well seasoned sandwiches of various fillings, a gorgeous piece of sausage roll each, two scones with jam and cream and various cakes and puddings. The tea, from northern tea merchants, flowed plentifully and was well brewed.

The staff were all very friendly and courteous and quick to help.

A fantastic day out and will certainly not be the last.
