I spent 4 nights here from the 18th July and after travelling to Chelmsford for 3 years this is the best place I have stayed in! Unfortunately my daughter who I visit about 3 times a year is moving to Witham in September so I won't be able to use the Chelmer again! It is great value for money, £40 for a single en suite room with a lovely cooked breakfast plus wifi! The room actually had a double and single bed which for 3 people would have been cramped but was fine for one person. The bathroom was very nice. The only drawback was the fact that breakfast during the week was between 7-8am which was a little early for me. Overall highly recommended.

The company I work for regularly put people up here when they're visiting our head office in Hatfield Peverel. The owner is lovely, she was very polite and accommodating. Breakfast was lovely and cooked to order, only complaint was that it was only served between 7 and 8. The room was clean and spacious with a comfy bed and small tv. Even got given a parking permit so I could park on the street. Nice little place and I'd use yen again if I was ever going to Chelmsford.

Nice little place, nothing special but has everything you need and expect from a more budget type hotel accommodation. Clean and tidy room, TV, tea and coffee facilities, on-suite bathroom and an average breakfast selection. Parking could an issue, depends what time of day you get there. Short walk to Chelmsford centre and very close to a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. Would definitely stay again.

Very nice bedroom and bathroom, delicious Full English breakfast included in price! Nice modern breakfast room with TV. Sue is VERY helpful and friendly, she makes the hotel a gem! Would deffinately go back again 🙂

The Chelmer Hotel was a great place to stay. Very clean,great wifi, a great host in Sue who cooks a mean breakfast :). I was working in centre of town and The Chelmer was nice and handy for me to stroll into work. I had to work evenings and still my room got cleaned daily. Thanks Sue and if i'm in the area again sometime this will be the first place i will try. Big thumbs up from me.

The wife and I have stayed at the Chelmer Hotel twice whilst attending V Festivals in 2015 and 2017.||||It is a nice clean B&B and the landlady serves up a nice tasty breakfast. It is well placed for the centre of Chelmsford and good for the shuttle buses to and from V.||||Probably a little over priced during the Festival weekend but it is a business after all and other B&Bs nearby were more expensive. Would definitely stay here again.

Basic and dated hotel, but clean and professionally run.| Stayed for two nights in a family room.|Was disappointed that breakfast wasn't included in the price. The hotel was one of the cheapest in the area for V Fest weekend, but still wasn't cheap.|Wasn't as close as I thought it would be. Was told it would be 1/2 hour walk. We were lazy and got a taxi. It dropped us off near the macdonalds near by. It took us 45 mins to walk to the entrance from there, so I think it would have been about 1 and a half hours walk in total. It was a nightmare to get a taxi back to the hotel, so decided to drive the next day... so much easier! |I would probably stay again.

4 of us stayed here for a night out in chelmsford. The room was lovely and clean and the beds are comfortable. The lady who owns it is also very lovely. Breakfast was brilliant. Will definately recommend and will be coming back next time for a night out in chelmsford.
