I recently stopped by The Cosy Cafe in Hay-on-Wye for lunch, and it was a truly delightful experience. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the service was impressively quick and efficient. The food was absolutely lovely, with a great selection of gluten-free options available. The oat milk lattes were a highlight, and the raspberry and almond Bakewell tart (gluten-free) was simply divine. The cafe's warm and inviting atmosphere made it a perfect spot to relax. For those planning a visit, there are on-street parking options and a small car park nearby, with a larger one just a short walk away. I highly recommend The Cosy Cafe and look forward to returning soon!

Looked really lovely, nice drinks but the food let it down so badly which is so unfortunate. I had the nourish bowl "our choice of seasonal veggies packed with nourishment". Sounded fab
Unfortunately it was spinach leaves topped with very wet chickpeas. They were so watery my bowl was left nearly a quarter full with water. The chickpea /tomato/onion mix was heavily coated harissa and no other flavours, it wasn't seasoned and you couldn't taste anything but wet spice. The little wrap/bread that came with it was nice but the meal was really disappointing and not at all as described.
My partner had the ham sandwich, the bread was okay but the cheese was cheap, the ham wasn't great and the chutney was very strong.
The children had cheese and ham crepes which were okay but the biggest disappointment was the nourish bowl. The cakes looked lovely but we didn't try them because we were too disappointed. Let the serve know when we paid that we were unhappy and there were no "seasonal veggies" in the bowl nd she was less than concerned. Its a shame.

Lovely coffee and brunch here on a Friday morning. Atmosphere was relaxed and staff were lovely, polite and helpful. Great for gluten free/coeliacs and also dog friendly 🙌🏻

Lovely little cafe with a great atmosphere. There's an array of seating options from booths to long family style tables. When entering you just help yourself to any available seating, menus are already on the tables. Table service is provided which we found to be very prompt and friendly.

The food did take a while to come out but with a small kitchen and given how busy it was it was understandable.

The portion sizes were very generous for the price and everything tasted great.

Highly recommend.

Such a lovely cafe. We visited repeatedly over a week. Excellent coffee, really wonderful food for both breakfast and lunch. Highly recommend the crepes, the hash browns and the savoury scones. It does (deservedly) get busy so can be tricky to get a seat, but turnover is good and they have a takeaway window too. Service is exceptional. Visit if you can!

Nice setting in the heart of the high street as was visiting hay for the day. It was a busy Monday afternoon and you could see that this business requires more front of house staff as they were doing their best to turn tables, take orders as it is table service and keep up with the demand.

Food was good overall, however the soup at the price it was should have come with a basic bread roll as a standard. (Focaccia or a scone were the charged options)

Food and drinks were served erratically and the service provided was of an average standard, cutlery was not provided when we had ordered a range of food items which needed them.

Wine (rose) was a nice offering to have at this type of brunch spot/cafe, and was at a fair price, and was of a good standard however overall for the level of service and the bill received we would probably not return, secondly the service provided needs to be more attentive if you are to continue to do table service.

The latte ordered was good however the size was small for the price.

The staff members were very helpful with dietary requirements, the chef came to the table to confirm order before cooking which we really appreciated.

My partner and I stopped in here for breakfast before browsing the local bookshops, we were absolutely delighted by the quality of the food, coffee, and service. Highly recommend the meaty breakfast crepe!
