I came to visit friends in Woodham Newton Aycliffe I hadn't seen for 6 years. They had||recommended The County Hotel to me. Indeed it was very well. ||||The rooms were well equipped and one can make a cup of tea! The next morning I was greeted by the staff (very friendly & serviceminded) who welcomed us for breakfast which was great. ||In our country Cloggyland (Holland) we don't get hot breakfasts like this, so we enjoyed to the fullest; scrambled eggs, sausages, mushrooms; the works. ||||But the County experience didn't stop here. The County has a wonderful restaurant too! The chef & team served the most delectable calves liver, with a good glass of wine it was a real treat. All good reasons to come back and stay here next time.||||Thanks to all the County staff!

Breakfast was off the scale, proportionate and delicious, served hot and very tasty, Sam was our waitress and was very polite, informative and helpful during our business visit, we weren't able to dine the same evening due to other commitments but based on the breakfast we can only imagine that this would have been worth it, we would definitely eat here again.

Went there first time about two weeks ago encouraged by the reviews and unfortunately didn’t like it. The ambient of the place is very nice as well as the service( can’t blame the waiters) but the food was well below average. I had (a very pricey) Sunday roast and I couldn’t be more disappointed. It was truly a bizzare concoction… never had a jacket potato with my Sunday roast before? One pig in blanket, one of each boiled vegetables (broccoli etc), gravy that tasted like made from granules, bland turkey, no nice sides. No effort was put into this dish and it tasted like hospital meal rather than something served at a top rated pub.

Lovely Sunday lunch as always. We always have the same from the menu, however our bill has increased by £20.00.

Such a lovely place to stay, a cosy little apartment with everything you could possibly need, the pub itself is also very welcoming, Alex the front of house manager was very chatty and made us very welcome he went above and beyond to make sure our stay and our dining experience was perfect. Thank you Alex for your hospitality, we will definitely be back it's perfect for us as we have family who live in the village.

Great food and atmosphere, only downside was the service was slow from the waiting staff when it wasn’t that busy. Would definitely recommend however.

Nice quiet inn with decent beer and good food. Stayed for one night, the room was more than adequate and the service from the team was excellent. Would return if in the area again.

Midweek family get together. Pleasantly surprised as to how busy it was. Booked online the evening before, smooth experience. Meal was on the high side of good. Last visited more than 15 years ago (different owners). Would recommend certainly. Newton Aycliffe needs decent restaurants / eateries and I would say that currently The County leads the way.
