Last minute decision to have a Sunday lunch at the county hotel, we didn't book a table but the staff managed to get us a table very quickly.
The food was amazing, we had the ultimate roast, it was delicious. The kids had the kids burger and the kids fish bites, they enjoyed it so much.
The staff is friendly even though it's quite busy, they served us with a smile.
We will definitely come back again for food.

Had a Sunday roast here and it was terrible. The beef was tough and the portions were small, the amount of veg in particular was pathetic. The two roast potatoes were tiny, hard as rocks, and basically just an oily shell with nothing inside. I definitely won’t be going back for food. The staff were polite enough but a bit slow.

I went for Christmas lunch with my swimming chums, our booking was for 13.00 hours 18th December. |We had arranged to meet there, on my arrival I was greeted by the most rude member of staff I have ever met no good afternoon or how can I help, a lady wearing white blouse but no name badge, presumably the manager of the day. I was asked whose name was the booking in and I explained it was the party of Wentworth swimming ladies (I didn't know the name of the booking)|with a wave of her arm I was told were to go no follow me please I will show you to your table, on meeting up with my party I was greeted by a very friendly staff member who served my drinks and food, infact all the waiting staff were very helpful and friendly. |I can't make much comment about the food other than it was average and I understand it was very busy.|I came across this lady when I went to settle my bill who again was very abrupt, but I chose to speak to the staff member who first served me so I could thank her and the other waiting staff. |I eaten many times here at the county and have been greeted warmly by Fiona or other members of staff. |I will return in the future and hopefully will have a better experience.

Our first experience on entering the hotel was a conversation with the lovely manager; really helpful chap. Great room. Really nice bar area, great staff. Really good food. Great place to stay.

Went here for Sunday lunch today. We hadn't booked so no tables in the restaurant available but they were happy to serve us in the bar area. We sat down and were approached quickly for our order and were told about the children’s toys available. The food came and the portions were good. Kids really enjoyed their kids fish bites, one of us had the roast and the other had a burger. Again, both were enjoyed. Staff were attentive but not overbearing. Couldn't finish the roast so asked for a box to take it home in which was quickly provided with a smile. Would recommend and go back.

Enjoyed an absolutely fabulous two course Sunday Lunch - would have gone for 3 but didn't have the room! Lovely relaxed atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff. Would highly recommend to anyone for Sunday Lunch!!

Stayed 2 nights while at wedding nearby.|Was great.|Reasonable price, staff all lovely & friendly. |Ate in bar restaurant, which was fine. Good selection of beers & wines. Great breakfast. |Room was absolutely fine, no issues at all.|We were on train so can't comment on parking.|Hexham itself is really lovely.|We had a great time.

Fabulous overnight stay at The County. Great atmosphere in the bar and staff very friendly. Very dog friendly and the doggy pack in our room was a lovely touch, along with the doggy breakfast. Rooms very comfortable and a good size. Recommend
