Stayed in the Outlander room. Really nice room. Comfy with a nice bathroom. Staff were really friendly, some live music, which was great. Good food, really nice bar and my partner got to pretend she was Claire for the evening. Not sure why there's bad reviews fir this place, either they have raised their game or other reviewers are really fussy. Happily return, Falkland is a very cute little village.

Visited the restaurant last week for the third time with 5 family members for lunch. The main course was lovely, no complaints there; we ordered one dessert which was never coming, asked 3 times and after about 30 minutes said sorry we need to go - cancel it. My brother went to pay at the bar and a waitress plonked the dessert in front of us, my brother told them we couldn't wait any longer. The waitress bawled at him 'you need to pay for it'. That's fine, just give me the bill. The waitress was very rude and my niece left in tears. We will not be back again!

What a fantastic and gorgeous place! The food was incredible, so delicious! Really friendly and helpful staff, they were so kind! We had just got married in Cuper County Hall and came here for lunch afterwards and they had even put a lovely card for us on our table!
Falkland is stunning and The Covenanter is one of the loveliest places in it! Would absolutely highly recommend!!!

Avoid at all costs!!! I visited the Covenanters last week for lunch. I have never ever been treated so badly anywhere in my entire life. The food wasn't bad but one of our party ordered desert and when it hadn't arrived 30 minutes later (had been asked for three times) we decided we needed to go. As we got up to leave, a waitress shouted at us that we would have to pay for the said desert. (This in front of the entire restaurant) Fine, we said and got directed to the bar to pay. Some minutes later, the said desert mysteriously arrived at the bar!! Once again we were told we would have to pay for it. We'd already agreed to pay but on top of that, one of the waitresses was rude to our young guest and upset her. We were told they were very busy and assumed that we didn't mind waiting 30 minutes for desert!! I have read the reviews for the rooms which also sound dire. Outlander or not I would avoid this establishment completely.

Friday 11th April 25 about lunch time. Can't rate it really, read on... We walked into the coffee shop. 3 people were waiting in front of us and immediately said they had been waiting for minutes to be seated but no sign of any staff at all. There is a sign in the window saying they need 3 members of staff in the kitchens! We waited a minute, and waited... No one came. We left. Can't rate anything other than zero service. Perhaps the front of house were cooking too! We went somewhere else nearby and were welcomed and got served. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

DO NOT STAY HERE! Me and my boyfriend are big Outlander-fans, we’ve been longing to visit Scotland and all the places they filmed at.

The first thing we booked was a stay at The Covenanter Hotel between 3-4 of April. Of course we booked the Outlander room where Claire and Frank stayed on their honeymoon and where the ghost of Jamie watches Claire through her window. We only wanted that room so we booked it when it was available and planned the rest of our trip after that.

When we came to the hotel the manager showed us the room and gave us the keys. The first thing I noticed was that the room wasn’t very clean, a lot of surfaces were dirty.

After this we noticed that the lock to the door wasn’t working, you couldn’t lock the door? We told the manager about this and they said that they had no idea why it didn’t work and said that it must have been because of the previous guests. She offered us to stay in another room that costs 10 GBP more than the outlander room, if we didn’t want to stay in a room that we couldn’t lock. We were disappointed, like we planned our 2 weeks trip in a certain way to live in the outlander room.. but we agreed to the new room, we didn’t know what else to do.

After this I started looking more at the hotel specific reviews that weren’t that good as we thought. All the good reviews were about the food and the restaurant, this made their total score pretty okay. But as said, the reviews about the hotel were really bad. I also found a review that was made 1 month before we came, about the Outlander room. They wrote that the lock didn’t work.. they decided to stay there anyway but made like a barricade with their bags against the door.

Have they let their customers live in that room with a broken lock? (It wasn’t that easy to notice, you had to push the door to find out that it could be open even though you locked it). We asked the manager and she said that they did change the lock after that customer but she also told us that they don’t read their reviews?

Whatever we had the new room and we couldn’t do anything about the situation. We stayed in The Queens room. The bed smelled like chlorine. During the night we heard rats above us in the attic, it was really cold (a few reviews said that they turned of the heat during the nights), also the shower started to flow sometimes, due to this my boyfriend didn’t get that much sleep. On the morning we both smelled like chlorine.

We were so disappointed about the whole situation, that we couldn’t stay in the outlander room and that the new room was really bad. We talked to the manager about how we felt and she didn’t understand our frustration regarding the change of room, she just kept saying that they gave us a new room that were more expensive (10 GBP). She did however say that she would reach back to us within 2 days regarding the situation in the new room. She didn’t. We sent an email, no answer. We called them a week after and we think we spoke to the manager (we recognized the voice) but she said that the manager wasn’t there at the moment. Weird though since she was there all the time during our stay. However, this girl we spoke with said that they would call us within 2 days. No one called. We called again after a week and got no answer, we decided to call from a hidden number and then they answered! We spoke to the same girl and she once again told us that the manager wasn’t there and that they would call us. It’s been two weeks since we stayed at their hotel.

The manager did send us an email after all our calls, saying that they won’t give us a partial refund or anything.

The only reason they are getting away with treating their guests like this is because of Outlander. We do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. If we would have known that this would happen to us we would just have stayed there for a few hours, take some pictures, see the place, get some lunch and leave.

This is our experience, it really affected us and brought disappointment and unhappy feelings over our trip.

Situated exactly opposite Falkland Palace this is the perfect place to visit for afternoon coffee and cakes or a full evening meal. The palace has no dining facilities.
The hotel food is excellent as is helpful service.

We had lunch here after a walk in the area. Although we hadn't booked, they managed to squeeze us in, which was much appreciated.

The food was excellent. I had the trio of sausages (special) and my wife had the fish finger burger, both of which were very tasty.

The service was also good. They were preparing for a large party incoming, but the service was decent, in spite of this. Serving staff were all very helpful, friendly and welcoming.
