We stayed for one night including dinner and breakfast.

We found the location ideal as itโ€™s not too large a detour from the main road (A303). However still far enough to feel immersed in the Devon countryside.

We were welcomed warmly by the host and fed well! Lovely paired down, well executed menu.

Great selection of beers and wines.

Our en-suite pet friendly room had all that you need and was immaculately clean.

Breakfast was our favourite component of our stay, really tasty, great produce!

Weโ€™ll be back for sure, thanks for having us.

Thank you for another excellent stay in your lovely, character full pub. Our dog friendly room was very comfortable. Our evening meal was superb and very reasonably priced. Breakfast is one of the best we've had. We'll definitely be back again

10th Feb 25...The fire was lit and we got a seat near it...as it was a cold evening, and it made for a pleasant experience with good food.
We were shown around the pub and told all the scary stories.
We are still waiting for the girl behind the bar to send our online booking for our Mothers Day dinner....even though we gave her the ยฃ10 cash deposit she asked for to book it!

A historic Devon inn with a good team and a good way of doing things.

I had a race early in the morning and was well accommodated for, being able to get out early, and come back in for a shower before heading down to breakfast.

Not an issue for me, but very tall people might have issues with the ceiling heights in some parts of the inn, as an observation!

My husband & I were recently on holiday in the area & following a delightful drive in the countryside we came across the Cridford Inn & decided to stop for lunch. The pub it's self is absolutely beautiful, but not so the welcome. As soon as we approached the bar to ask about the lunchtime menu a very weary looking middle aged lady sighed & informed us we should have booked. (we had no idea it was bookings only) She made us feel like we were a problem, & the pub itself was not busy. The lady informed us we could have not have any special's or roast, because we had not booked, so the only options available to us were from the al a carte menu, which was singularly uninspiring, & did not look very "al a carte" We both opted for burger & chips as nothing else looked appealing, & we ordered a pot of tea for two. The food was served promptly by a very friendly lady with blonde hair, who was delightful. The burger was ok, although nothing special, but the chips were of the frozen variety, anaemic & very few, served in a tiny basket resembling a mini chip shop frying basket. For this meal & our pot of tea we got hardly any change out of ยฃ40! For tea, frozen chips & a burger this was certainly on the expensive side! I understand that this is an old historic pub & perhaps is very popular, but we were literally just passing & did not realise it was bookings only for lunch, & we certainly felt penalised & unwelcome because we had not done so. The blonde waitress however was lovely & almost made up for the lack of welcome we initially received, but if we holiday in this area again we would not go back. Sorry.

I had accompanied my friend to have dinner, and on arrival we were greeted and seated next to a very nice wood burner. I had the steak and chips which were amazing and my friend had the roast and that was great too! Thanks for such great food.

Really nice place with character, mind blowing interior, very cosy. Quiet location. Loren was really kind and helpful host. Very good dinner, such a pity I had to leave early and didn't try the cooked breakfast...

Went for a weeks hol in aug but left 2 days earlier
The arival from reception was not great .
Younger staff were great happy and helpful
The owner Ness was alittle less helpful
Gave us a breakfast menu on arrival to fill in didn't realise this was our choice for the week. Even food was ok but everything was served with soft triple cooked chips . Would have been nice to see new potatoes or mash. Rooms were clean no place to hang clothes or anywhere to put clothes.
Found the table in dining area sticky and one table by the bar also .
Inn is nice but outside flowers need tidying
As for location good if walking but not good if using a car lanes are so narrow.
Sorry we would not go back.
