We stayed two nights in late October in a twin room which was clean, warm and had everything we needed. Food in the bar was high quality pub fare prepared with care and the breakfasts are proper breakfasts that set you up for the day. The staff were very friendly and looked after us very well indeed. Set in a village environment in stunning countryside, what more could you need? We will be back.

Lovely village pub, many different drinks to choose from. Quite a comprehensive menu. Steak and mushroom pie, fantastic, fish could have done with a bit more cooking. But fine.

Thanks for my stay
Stopped the night at The Derwent Arms after a very good day at Hexham Races.
The service in the bar was very good by the two girls.
Had a evening meal and breakfast
Food was excellent
Room very clean and comfortable
Will be staying again in the very near future

Check-in at this hotel ends at 9pm. I made an unrefundable booking and arrived at 8:30 pm having announced that I'd arrive between 8-9pm, to find the reception abandoned. The hotel did not respond to my message or pick up the phone for 1 hour and had to wait a further 45min for booking.com to cancel the booking before moving on to another hotel. Part of the waiting was outdoors in cold winter night conditions.

No apology or explanation from the hotel afterwards. Shockingly disrespectful establishment.

Great pub with large comfortable rooms. Nice Sunday dinner but note they stop serving after 5.30pm. Very friendly and welcoming.

Warm, cosy & welcoming. Delightful waitrons, a very happy singing chef/cook with a decent house red. The food was fabulous, probably one of the best roast beef, served pink, I've had. The smoked mackerel pate starter was excellent too.

Welcoming traditional pub offering good quality well cooked food for dinner, a clean comfortable room, and a nice full English breakfast for a reasonable price. It was exactly what we needed, situated in a quiet village in the North Pennines. Cannot find fault with the venue for our needs
