I brought a bus trip of 40+ people to this hotel in March. From start to finish our stay was exceptional. Check in was seamless, the staff were so organised. Our rooms were lovely, spacious and comfortably furnished. Breakfast was a plated affair and there was plenty and it was well cooked and served promptly, we were offered more toast when we had ate all ours, there was also a very good choice of continental (cereals, yoghurts, croissants etc). We all made good use of the bar and we found the staff lovely, so friendly. I could go on and on about how much we enjoyed our stay but suffice to say that we all hope to return as soon as possible. If I had to highlight one specific point it would be the quality of the staff.

We recently stayed here for one night. Our room was huge! We had upgraded to a superior room. It had a separate lounge which was nice to have. The bed was large and comfy. Everything was clean. Yes some of the decor was tired however they were under going maintenance and building work. Old properties take a lot of upkeep. The hotel has such a lovely feel to it, it’s like stepping back in time. Breakfast was perfect we had the full English which was a really good portion plus lots of hot toast and butter. I would definitely recommend this hotel it’s in a perfect location to explore Plymouth. Very handy to have parking as well. It was Β£10 for the night which I personally didn’t find a problem with. All helps the hotel with maintaining its upkeep etc. Friendly staff, we will return.

We have stayed here a number of times and this is the fourth review I've left for The Duke of Cornwall.|Unfortunately, this is the first time that I have not been in a position to give a five star review.|We arrived on Sunday 30th March for a three night stay on Half Board.|To our dismay, a very apologetic receptionist informed us that the restaurant is currently closed in the evening on Mondays and Tuesdays, and that we would, instead, have to select food from the bar menu.|Part of our enjoyment of this hotel is the wonderful meals served in the restaurant, so a choice consisting of the likes of burgers, cod goujons, spag bol & pizzas didn't really rise to the occasion.|I must add that, when we were able to eat in the restaurant for dinner on Tuesday, the food was of an exceptional quality.|With this negative review I would also like to add the positives; the polite, professional and friendly staff at reception, and, most of all, the delightful Claire who, be it breakfast or dinner, provided (as always) a wonderful service with a smile. She is most definitely a credit to the hotel!||We do love staying here, but next time, I will contact the hotel with regard to the eating arrangements. If we'd known about the Sunday and Monday situation in advance, then we'd have booked as B&B and not HB.

We've stayed here a few times over a few years and I always love this hotel. It's my favourite in plymouth. Absolutely love the decor and ambience. Each room has been unique and lovely. Luckily this time we got a superior double room at a reduced cost on booking.com. Oh my, oh my what a stunning room. Fingers crossed we can get this deal again when we stay in plymouth again later this year. Staff are always friendly and helpful and the bar food we had was delicious. I had the soup, roll and chips. Perfectly located for the town centre and theatre AND of course I'd stay again!

Forget the small negatives such as tired rooms and a tiny lift, the positives are plenty. Fantastic breakfast, big rooms, dogs stay for free (we hate hotels charging fees for our dog to stay)! The bar prices are reasonable as are the room rates. The staff were very helpful & this hotel has a real charm about it. Considering the very reasonable rates snd perfect location for the Hoe etc we found it a fantastic base & will return. We loved kiwis & lovely breakfast. Special thanks to the helpful waiter Asare He looked after us & went above & beyond.

Well what can I say except WOW!! Spent 2 nights here. All the staff are exceptional. The hotel was very professional in accommodating my assistance dog. The history of the hotel is amazing. The staircase is jaw dropping gorgeous. The breakfast was ok. But the evening meal we had last night was out of this world. Maybe a little on the expensive and overpriced bit but worth the money. Will definitely be returning.

An impressive Victorian hotel near Plymouth Hoe, with a comfortable lived in feel with bucketloads of history. The rooms are of a decent size with comfortable beds. We went there for an Adele tribute evening, which included a 3 course meal (we opted to stop over as they did a deal, which included breakfast). It was a really good evening, the food was excellent, and so was the breakfast.
