Lovely place. I took my son there for his birthday. The service was fantastic, the food was lovely. Portions a bit on the large side. Everything about the place was great. My son got a free drink from the host, which was a very lovely gesture . Thanks for a fantastic service. We had a great time.

We are increasingly turning to the Embankment Hotel for celebration meals with friends and family.
Without doubt you can be guaranteed a warm welcome, fantastic food with a good range to suit every age and taste. Extremely helpful with allergy information and catering for special needs.
We were carefully attended by a lovely caring lady whose name I have sadly forgotten and an excellent trainee called Harvey who did a great and efficient job caring for our party.
The Embankment has a warm and homely feel matched by a highly competent staff.
Another great family meal out enjoyed by us all .
Thank you.

My Mum and I stayed overnight here in August 2024 on route elsewhere. I wish we had been able to stay longer. We had a warm welcome when checking in. What a wonderful location right opposite the river, perfect for walking the dog. We counted 22 swans on our first evening walk! Very dog friendly and welcoming which was such a change from other places we have stayed which say they are dog friendly but actually are not. We had a great big room and the hotel was very quiet (considering its a pub). Parking on site and on the road opposite. Free wifi worked well. Lovely little touches with the food (smarties with the coffee) and we ate in the front of the bar area overlooking the river. Thank you very much for looking after us so well. We will return for sure.

This was our 8th time staying here. Hotel is lovely and clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. Just wish the showers were a bit more powerful, but it's not a problem, have already booked for next year. Great choice of breakfast and is all freshly cooked.

There isn't any air con and unfortunately the windows don't open far but the rooms are very comfortable. The thing about this place is definitely the staff though. They are so kind, always smiling and keen to help. Breakfast is really good too, you choose off the pub menu and it serves proper good coffee.

I travel for work and it's the little things that make the difference like remembering my name!

The Embankment is a very friendly and welcoming hotel with nothing being too much trouble. Comfortable with good food and a fine location overlooking the river with leisurely walks. Two minutes form the town centre. |Have stayed there several times now and would recommend a visit to anyone.

Second time my wife and I have eaten here. Both times the food has been stunning. Freshly made, it’s an inventive menu that tastes delicious. We had four starters as a tapas type of lunch. We will definitely be back.
It had a beautiful outlook, onto the river with swans and geese swimming by.
An idyllic oasis in the middle of a bustling town.

As regular visitors to the Embankment Hotel it is sad to see the level of service skills have definitely dropped. ||Being given hot glasses for cold beers (and reluctantly cooling them down when asked) should not be a feature here. ||Also, being presented with lukewarm white wine and then being told by the bar staff member “it was in the cool cabinet so couldn’t do anything about it” just underlined the lack of interest in resolving the issue. ||On the plus side, when my partner returned to the bar with the offending glass of wine, a young chap behind the bar not only agreed that it was lukewarm and “not as white wine should be” but also found a nicely cooled bottle of the same wine (at the back of the cool cabinet). Well done him for taking ownership of the problem and being bothered to resolve it immediately with no fuss.
