Both my wife and I spent a night at the absolute little Gem. A lovely little 2 bed bedsit/ chalet with ensuite. The room was cleaned to a very high standard.
We personally liked the little personal touch of a little jar of coffee, tea bags, sugar cubes and not the little sachets you get in most places there was even a small bottle of milk in the fridge.
Yes it's right next to a train line but as some of the reviews state the trains shake the room , THEY DONT .
Both me and Janette would definitely stay here again and 💯 recommend to anyone.

Wasn't cleaned properly after last guests as we found their rubbish on the carpet and their stains in basin. Sheets stains too, Yuk. The shed is practically on the railway line and not only noisy but the room vibrates! Trains all through to 3.45am then started again at 5.45am. We went on a Wednesday night expecting the quiet trains as the steam trains are at the weekend only, but only got a very noisy restless night. Their 'train' description is inaccurate.
There's no privacy as the garden is shared with the owner and not separate. Luckily they were away. Half glazed door, with ill fitting blind which doesn't block out any light. No curtains either 😕 a slatted blind which lets in light when closed. The shower thermostat is not working the shower goes from warm to cold in seconds then back to warm slowly then hot then freezing again, nightmare. It happened to both of us and neither of us moved the temperature knob.
Didn't see the owners as they were away.
Saw in online photos and therefore expecting, hot chocolate and toffees, but got builders tea/coffee biscuits.
Fridge is situated in an old kitchen unit with door missing and fridge is unstable.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my mom and so glad we booked. From the moment we got there Anna was extremely welcoming and helpful showing us how things worked. Everything you could want in the room, fresh milk, tea and coffee, hairdryer, iron. There's so much drawer space too considering how small it is, could easily store all your things if staying for longer. It was also very clean, beds were very comfortable and the trains going past didn't bother us in the slightest.|Definitely recommend and will be staying here again! Thank you Anna & Nick!

Beautiful charming find. |Needed somewhere for a one night stay to attend a local event and Anna could not do enough for us. |Prepared the room early as we needed to have a quick freshen up in arrival before the event and text to let me know. |Sent me directions to event and was so helpful. |The room was immaculate and beautifully decorated. |No real train noise until|After 8 the next morning |Fresh milk in fridge and felt like a home from home. Pretty garden area also. |Fabulous all round. Thank you to Engine Shed 😀

You get what you pay for! A very cheap price, but no breakfast( we did know this), walking distance to pub and eating places. A very quiet location apart from the railway line. This may not disturb you if you sleep deeply! We did know about the trains. Very clean.

Why the title? Well for starters, this is a detached converted garage/shed, which has been given all the mod-cons, and as soon as you enter.....you really are as snug as a bug. But why the B? Because you only pay for a bed, there is no breakfast, so we just called it a B (technically it's not a B&B!). We could have called it a B&HST, with the trains passing inches away. Don't panic, you're quite safe, but it is a trainspotters' delight. Twin beds, hot shower, soft towels, soft pillows, TV, unlimited wi-fi and......a fridge with FRESH milk, not UHT like hotels give you AND it refilled every day. Off road parking in a safe village, with use of a garden. Anna and Nick (and their unseen cleaner) are fantastic, and are a wealth of local knowledge. Keep an ear out for the lighthouse foghorn.......mysteriously, every time you flush the loo? 10/10 A*** and absolutely NO complaints.....we WILL return!!
