The Evenhill is an absolute gem—a charming old-style country pub with a cosy, comfortable annexe behind it offering seventeen lovely older style rooms. We stayed in room four on the ground floor, which was spacious and well-equipped, featuring a large, comfy bed, a big bathroom with a shower over a corner bath, a flat-screen TV, and plenty of space for our belongings. It was spotlessly clean, wonderfully quiet, and warm—perfect for a relaxing getaway. Added bonuses include free WiFi, free parking, and it’s pet-friendly (just let them know in advance if you’re bringing your dog).|We were lucky to book a table at the restaurant for dinner, coinciding with a special Burns Night supper. It was a lively, fun evening with delicious home-cooked food, mostly prepared by the lovely proprietor, Debbie. The three-course meal was outstanding, and the complimentary Baileys and whisky toasts made it even more memorable! Despite being newcomers, we were made to feel just as welcome as the regulars and locals, which was such a nice touch.|Breakfast the next morning was equally impressive. Everything was made to order from the menu, and my poached eggs were perfect. My husband loved his hearty full English breakfast, and the additional buffet with cereals, toast, and fruit added to the experience.|The staff were outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. The overall atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and genuinely lovely.|We couldn’t recommend The Evenhill enough, whether you’re looking for a cosy retreat or a fantastic dining experience. We’d love to stay again if we are ever back in the area.

We stayed in a lovely clean , warm and cosy room with good modern bathroom facilities which was in the old converted barn . After a good nights sleep. We had a delicious breakfast in the main building of the pub which was very old and full of character and history. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Myself and my husband booked a one night stay at The Evenhill as a child free treat! The room we had was spacious and very clean. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend and we will stay again when we get the chance.

Just had lunch at this pub, the most atrocious food we've ever eaten. Would we go back? DEFINITELY!! For one reason only, BOBBY, the young man who was left front of house on his own, after coming in on his day off because they were so short staffed. He was serving drinks, taking orders, running food, clearing plates, sorting out bills. He did all this with a lovely smile, great attitude, patience and friendliness, when he probably just wanted to walk out the door. He is a credit to the Even hill and I hope they realise what a gem they have.

We went here for Christmas Day dinner. Our first time eating out on Christmas Day, we had the most wonderful time. Food was great. Service was amazing. We were there for three hours, It felt really relaxed and didn’t feel rushed. It’s obviously a lot of money but it really was worth it. Can’t recommend it enough!

We had Sunday lunch. The food was exceptional. There were three choices of meat/poultry. None overcooked or dry.
The roast potatoes were really good. The fairly limited vegetables were well cooked and prepared, although the carrot and swede did taste like carrot and sweet potato. Service was very good. Attentive, but not intrusive. The original beams and floor add to the ambiance. I'd definitely recommend paying the place a visit.
