Booked a table for my husband’s birthday. They were very busy but the waitresses coped very well. They were very polite and helpful. Food was excellent! Usually end up having fish and chips as I don’t eat red meat. Their menu gave me 3 choices, all sounded delicious, I opted for the southern fried chicken burger and chips with a Cajun sauce. Their portion sizes suited us all, not too much piled on the plate. All in all a lovely evening. Will definitely be recommending you and will be visiting again .

We really enjoyed this restaurant. The fish and chips were fantastic and the owner came out to discuss the menu for the children. It is family-friendly and they were very tolerant of our larger group which included four children. Overall lovely place, thank you!

Me and my partner went for food, and it was just disgusting, taken frozen bought although they denied this said it was home made which tbh just make it’s even worse because it was the worst pizza I have ever had in my life. My partner got the fish and chips which to was gross. We had a litral bite and send sent the food back. We asked to just pay for the drinks and then we were told they given us a discount which was £3 pound !! Shocking. We disputed this and managed to get one meal free along side blue light but honestly worst dining experience of my life.

Rooms are excellent, especially for the price, and I would have paid even more. The decor is charming in the pub below, the food if not outstanding, but the price i right. Only thing, the service is a bit slow and it took a long time to get our order in…and there was not a lot of clientele.

We popped in for their fabulous full breakfast and were wowed by everything! The coffee was fantastic, the breakfast was simple and everything was perfect and delicious and we’re so impressed to even see eggs, Benedict and eggs Florentine on the menu. It’s such a perfect location and everything was squeaky, clean, fresh new and so tidy, I can’t wait to come back and stay here for my next visit. Highly recommended.! Thanks For keeping the quality of a bygone era fully intact! It’s so rare to get such elegant, friendly service and quality at such a good price!

Lovely place. Took my husband there for his 60th birthday. The service was great but I was disappointed with the meal. We both ordered the Pork but when t arrived it was swimming in gravy, it would have been nice to have the gravy in a jug. Having it poured all over the dinner made everything including the roast potatoes soggy. Everything else came as side dishes which was nice. Maybe gravy boats/jugs given in the future.

My friends and I booked The Evenlode for a Christmas get-together. We all paid £20 each for a buffet-style meal, and there were around 100 of us. What we were served was worth about £200, which was nowhere near enough food. The food itself was bland, and there weren’t enough plates or cutlery.

The attendees who arrived first had to help clear the tables from the previous night. There was only one staff member behind the bar, and the manager didn’t come down to help. He blamed the lack of staff on several employees calling in sick.

We lodged a complaint with the manager, Andrew, but instead of receiving a refund, we’ve just gotten passive-aggressive responses, with replies taking several days. It’s a shame because it’s a great pub location, but everyone who attended left feeling disappointed with the service.

Avoid at all costs.
