Had lunch here in late October. Very friendly and cooperative staff. Good value food and very tasty. Superbly cooked gammon. Meal decoratively served. What more can I say. Pate was excellent. For less than £15 for a two course lunch. We will come again!

Having been here several months earlier and had a lovely meal with good service,we decided to go on Sunday for lunch. The inside had been renovated, but not for the better, bit dismal &no atmosphere.
Our table had a sheet of paper on it which was the menu ( a board on the wall did have some specials on it also). After a while we noticed people who came in after us had ordered their meals. I had to call over to the waitress to take our order. We all had the steak pie and chips and when it arrived it was awful. The piece of pie was so small, (it must have been cooked on a side plate)about 3 pieces of meat and had obviously been left under a heat lamp as it was burnt and the pastry was rubbery. The waitress asked if we needed any sauces and when we said no, said enjoy your meal and started walking away. I had to call her back as we had no cutlery to eat with. The chips were good and it also came with a couple of slices of carrot and cauliflower and very thin tasteless gravy. It cost £15.95 each and I have never felt so ripped off. So disappointed with everything and will not be returning.

First visit in a good while and called in for lunch more in hope than expectation. Was great in friendly manner by the staff and the landlady and when we asked if a table was available was informed yes, but there would be a wait as a party of 12 had just arrived. We weren't pushed for time so took up the offer of a table.|We got our drinks from the bar being served by a friendly barman. He indicated that as soon as he could he would take our food Order which he did, and quicker than we were expecting.|We ordered the Sunday roast dinner which arrived promptly. Welsh beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots, parsnips, cauliflower and gravy; all of which was warm and fresh. If we were to be hypercritical the roast potatoes could have been crisper.|Enquiries were made of us during our meal if everything was ok which indicated a desire to know if we were satisfied, which we obviously were.|The table was cleared efficiently and with a smile and when we enquired of a dessert we're handed a menu and informed of the specials.|The ambience was pleasant and friendly with conversation with the locals adding to an overall great experience.|We will be going back and would recommend people to give it a try.|Thanks to all the landlady, bar & waitress staff, you 'done good'!

Recently went for a family meal to celebrate my sisters 30th birthday and the overall experience just wasn't good at all. We were the only table in the restaurant yet had to keep going to the bar to order drinks despite the lady serving our food asking the barman on more than one occasion to come and take a drinks order. We had 3 different types of wine and all of them were awful and barely chilled. I had the lasagne and was so looking forward to it however I'm not exaggerating when I say it was layers of mince and onion between pasta with cheese on top. There was no tomato, no seasoning, no béchamel sauce nothing! The garlic bread that came with it was just the frozen slices which would've been fine if they had been cooked on both sides and not just lightly grilled on top. Everybody else said their meals were poor for various reasons but nobody came to check whether everything was ok so couldn't feed this back to anyone. I did also witness a couple come in and ask if they could have a table to which they were told they had stopped serving food (at 8pm on a Saturday) they then asked if there was anywhere else in the area they knew of to go to which the lady carried on doing whatever she was doing and said 'no sorry' and walked off. As someone who previously worked as front of house and as a chef it was embarrassing to witness. Overall there was a complete lack of customer service and the food really really let it down. Extremely disappointing to think that we would've received better service and food at a cheap chain pub.

Having not been for a while we decided on Saturday afternoon to call in while passing . The place was quite busy and nice and warm. . Both the girls serving were helpful . Overall the food was good and prices were ok . The only negative points were that we were not table checked and the steak I ordered was medium rare not the medium II ordered which is no big thing but rump can be quite chewy . As it was Saturday steak day it was bottomless chips but again it wasn’t followed up on . But to be honest there was enough on the plate to begin with so I didn’t go hungry . Overall though it was pleasant dining .

Just had a lovely family of 4 lunch here. Really good home cooked food with plenty of choice on the menu including mid week deals at fab prices! Great atmosphere that’s been freshly renovated along with a new kids play area outside too and what made it even more enjoyable was when our newborn baby woke from his nap crying the land lady came over and offered to take him in his pram for a walk outside to get him to sleep so we could enjoy our food along with our 3 year old, something so small but meant so much. It’s not often nowadays you meet genuinely caring and considerate people. We will definitely be returning 🤍🥰

Mushroom pepper pot was like soup as was the stroganoff, the pheasant was so dry and rubbery, veg was vile. Chicken curry was sloppy and tastles. Definitely a pub to avoid, I can honestly say it was the worst meal we have ever had. |Used to be a really nice place but no longer it's just awful

One of the worst meals we’ve had in a very long time. You’ll see from my previous reviews I don’t often complain but this was exceptionally bad. The service was slow, but that was nothing compared to the food. Onion Bhaji’s were so cremated they wouldn’t have looked out of place on a local bonfire. The scampi and panko chicken burger have clearly been bought from the local Iceland and the steak could easily have come from Windsor’s world of shoes. Visited about 18 months ago and it was lovely so god knows what’s happened. Avoid like the plague.
