We just dropped in for tea! Beautiful home made icecream (far too good for the kids) and an amazing sticky toffee pudding. Friendly and quick service, homely atmosphere. Will have to do lunch one day (without the kids) for a romantic outing with the wife!

Very pleasant!
Well patronized on the Wednesday night, always a good sign. Opted for the chef's menu as it was a 'trust the chef' menu with meat/fish/veggie options. Interesting, well prepared, well presented dishes. Friendly, informed service; at bit busy as the restaurant was full. A bit on the pricey side, but enjoyed the evening.

We wanted to like the trust the chef approach and we did enjoy the starters, but were underwhelmed with the mains.

We knew it wasn't going to me much portion wise, but thought it would have more to them for £16 a course. I appreciate fish is always expensive and it was beautifully cooked. But there wasn't much to it, with tomatoes and spinach. The small piece of lamb was nice, but the lentils were not up to much. Maybe it was just the dishes on the day.

I really enjoyed everything about this place. The food was excellent. All the staff were polite, helpful and friendly. You could tell from the atmosphere that everyone was having a lovely time. It was my first visit in years, but one of my best dining out experiences. I'll definitely be going back soon.

Discovering this delightful place was a joy, with its incredible cuisine, especially the intriguing combinations in the Taste the Chef 3-course set. The element of surprise before tasting each course added to the fun, and the outcome was consistently delightful! The staff were exceptionally professional, attentive, welcoming, and friendly, making our night truly wonderful. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

We visited The Fig Tree @36 on a Wednesday evening, which is their 'Trust the chef' evening.
It was an amazing option and well worth the money.
The food was sensational, and the service was incredible!
I mentioned that it was my wife's birthday when I booked. When we had finished our meal, they presented her with a birthday plate and small cake.
It was a very nice gesture and made our evening.
We will definitely be returning. Thank you.

We are here on our first night in Plymouth and would highly recommend everyone to enjoy the absolutely superb food, service and atmosphere.
It's small, friendly and the menu is amazing and very well priced. We both had the 3 courses for £45. Total bill was £140ish as we also enjoyed two bottles of wine.
I would imagine booking is essential if you want to be sure to eat here.
