Another amazing stay here at The Fleece. Staff are lovely and very accommodating. Had both an evening meal and breakfast and both were lovely. Lovely environment to stay in. Close to Carlisle and the airport 🛫 Lots safe parking on site for free. Definitely try this lovely, peaceful place you won't be disappointed. Some rooms are dog friendly.

We had a super night here with our dog, when travelling south. The accommodation is excellent both for us and our dog. The outside access from the room is ideal.||Our dinner was delicious and all the staff incredibly professional whilst friendly and helpful.||We will certainly hope to be back. It was good value and perfect for what we needed.

My brother recommended The Fleece to me. He had been a few times and I had friends over from New Zealand who wanted to spend a couple of days up on The Wall.||It was a top spot. High quality place. Beautiful, tranquil location. And good food - all day. The Fleece was one of those complete places which was so comfortable that when you got there you didn’t want to leave. So, one day, I didn’t. I abandoned my friends – and plans to see a bit more of The Wall - for the home comforts of The Fleece. In the afternoon I took a stroll up to the air museum, just across the fields at the airport. A top day.||Will definitely go back; the Fleece is a bit of a sanctuary.||The only downside is it’s not nearer London.

I travel a lot and this is one of my very favourite hotels : a stunning building inside & out and some of the best bedrooms I ever stay in (worth paying a tad more for a 'Superior' grade) with fantastic showers and roll-top baths. The lounge areas are glorious and overall - especially during the week - an absolute bargain. Super convenient, just off the M6 and absolutely worth staying here rather than in the centre of Carlisle. |I didn't dine here this time, but breakfast was lovely, as was the service. I really do hope that the new management team stick with it : I love coming here and look forward to returning.

Stayed here for two nights in June. Room was very good. Food was pub type and reasonably priced. However, on our second night a singer was employed who was so loud, conversation was impossible. Also, we had to wait an hour for our orders to arrive. A member of staff apologised and offerd a free dessert and coffee which I accepted. |When it came to the bill there was no reduction. I asked to see the manager who was decidedly surley and, i think, is the rudest person I have ever met. Obviously never been to charm school. She hardly spoke except to ask who had made the offer. She reluctantly gave the discount but with no apology. In fact she didn't speak again whilst I paid and left the hotel. She is definitely in the wrong job.|No wonder this place is in trouble.

A lovely place to stop off on our way back south from Scotland. Top quality furnishings and fittings and a bed that made us feel like we were sleeping on a cloud! Food at dinner and breakfast was delicious, and all staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were allocated an accessible room, although we didn’t request it, but it was no issue, save only that the tap water was set to one temperature (warm) but the very efficient young gentleman who was duty manager brought us up two bottles of fresh bottled water immediately without being asked to do so. Good value, and we would recommend.

Firstly I echo everything said in previous review on 19th June. I really enjoy my stays here. the setting and ambiance, the pleasant rooms and comfy beds. It makes travelling up to Scotland a pleasure and restful to re commence your onward journey.||Situated just a few miles of the M6 - yet quiet enough for a good nights stay - plus a nice walk to stretch your legs down to the river. The public rooms/bar area and restaurant are lovely and the upstairs libarary terrace looking down is peaceful place to read. Plus a clean and friendly pooch can go in the uncarpeted part of the public rooms.||We did eat in the evening and both meals were delicious - I personally didn't notice any change in breakfast quality. Plus I can live without a small bottle of gin! in the bedroom. Ask in the bar to take to your room if you require more.||Some have mentioned the hotel seems to have cut back slightly, but for me I am just glad that it is up and running again with fresh management and I hope that it continues to flourish and I wish the team all the best as this lovely place deserves to continue.||I hope to return again later in the year as my partner has learnt the only way for me to head north is to stay overnight here.

We stopped off at the Fleece for a lovely decaf coffee. What a really lovely place. It felt cosy and welcoming. The furniture and furnishings are all good quality. The library is very relaxing. A good size function room. Would make an excellent wedding venue. We will definitely return, next time we will try the food.
