Had lunch here today while in the area on holiday. Super food at reasonable prices. Lovely building. Some of the nicest staff I have come across - a real credit to the hotel. Our dog was made very welcome with treats, water and lots of fuss. Will definitely visit again if in Richmond

Absolutely wonderful stay in Richmond. Hotel was clean, well fitted and well maintained. Staff couldn't do enough to help us, including allowing a very early check-in to allow us to prepare for a wedding. Breakfast was especially good the following day! A credit to the area.

Incredible place 100 yards walk from the town square in Richmond. Looks very classy and upmarket inside. Went for lunch and the service was outstanding. Every member of staff was friendly and spent time engaging and chatting with us. When we arrived with a wheelchair, 2 members of staff asked if there was anything they could do to help between the front door and the bar. These things made us feel really welcome, relaxed and at home. I had Shepherd's Pie and my Mother had fish of the day (Plaice). We've been to a lot of good quality restaurants around the Wednesleydale area over the last week and the food has been outstanding everywhere, but the food here was the best we'd had all week. It was also the cheapest and the portion sizes were excellent.

The Fleece is going to be the most popular restaurant in Richmond within the next 6-12 months if the new owner keeps going the way they are going by combining quality food and service with a beautiful and welcoming environment. More than worth the short walk from the main square down the hill towards the Friary Gardens area. Can't praise this place enough.

We had a delicious dinner at The Fleece tonight. The food was outstanding and the service in both the bar and restaurant was exceptional - which is unfortunately such a rare experience. The restaurant was beautifully furnished providing a lovely, luxurious yet comfortable setting.

We would recommend The Fleece to anyone seeking high quality food in a lovely environment with friendly, knowledgeable and attentive waiting staff.

The Fleece has had a chequered career over the past few years, since it was extensively refurbished pre COVID. There have been several faulting attempts over the past few years. While shopping in Richmond on Saturday morning we fancied a coffee so we thought we would have a nose. We were surprised to find it quite full with reserved notices on many tables but the welcoming waitress found us one that would not be required for an hour. The coffee was delicious and we asked to see menus for future reference. Dogs are not just tolerated but given a positive welcome and when a particularly large specimen relived itself copiously it was dealt with good humour by the staff. The bar was very tempting with local Daleside brews on offer. The surroundings and welcoming if slightly bonkers staff make you want to return. The prices seem a bit high to Yorkshire baby boomers, but then they do everywhere these days. We have made a mental note to return for lunch by bus so we can do the beer justice. From what we have seen the place deserves success.

We had a really lovely stay for one night on our way up to Scotland. We had a delicious supper in front of the wood burner in the bar, where we were looked after wonderfully by friendly and engaging staff. Our room was charming with a fantastic double shower enclosure, high ceilings and a bay window (room 2). Our son had a super room at the top of the hotel, which he loved (room 10 - Coast).
Breakfast was top notch and again the service was impeccable.
Don't be put off staying at this lovely hotel by the fact it does not have parking, there is a large area to the front to unload and a very reasonably priced long stay car park is just a few minutes walk away.
We will be back!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch at The Fleece with 2 young kids. Waited for our table but this was communicated and we were given table snacks while we waited. Food was gorgeous and great portion sizes. Lovely busy restaurant but everything ran very smoothly. We'll definitely be back

Had a brilliant lunch here on Easter Monday! Food was fantastic and service was above and beyond. Not just dog friendly but incredibly dog welcoming. Can't wait to return
