Warm welcome to this lovely village pub. Very generous sized comfortable bedroom. Good choice of menu and the food we had was excellent. Breakfast in the morning was freshly cooked to order and more than adequate. Great location for exploring the area.

Myself and a colleague visited the forge for an evening meal, the first thing we noticed was there was a large group of customers waiting for the restaurant to open, after dining there I can see why. The food was amazing as were the friendly staff, all set in an idyllic country building surrounded by nature, a must for everyone, we will definitely return.

I’ve been coming here years for the lunch special of soup sandwich and a drink with my dad and today I brought my partner and it was the first time in 3 years I’ve been and nothings changed which is how I like it! Great food and great service the young girl who served us was excellent and very friendly and welcoming food was excellent! 😊

A lovely, friendly pub. Great service, and a calm relaxing atmosphere.|The food was really good, served with a smile. AND LET ME TELL YOU ALL, the boozy bread and butter pudding was to die for. So good we are going back in the next few days. If you're looking for a place to eat, with an old fashioned pub feel - this is the place.

Called in for an impromptu Sunday lunch and it was fantastic, fresh vegetables, lovely mash and the lamb was delicious. The whole experience was lovely, we were too full for a pudding so we got one to take away.
All in all, fantastic food, brilliant service and a beautiful pub with a great atmosphere. Thank you guys xx

Stayed here for just 1 night for a wedding in Egton as it's just a short taxi ride, and what a gem of a find it was.
Room is huge! Very comfy, clean, all amenities needed for our 1 night stay, and fantastic views of the hills and sea!
Host/owner is really friendly and welcoming.
My poached eggs on toast and the omelette were perfectly cooked (shame I couldn't finish mine from being full from all the food the day before!)
Oh, and to top it off, they have my favourite Hawkstone lager, and cider, on tap.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Whitby area.
We'll certainly be back.

Really lovely place. The food was excellent. Our room was very nice with bijou decor. Very near to Whitby. Breakfast was superb! The staff were pleasant and helpful. Would recommend
