A delightful place to stay for the night - or longer. Very friendly, and were happy to have the dog stay with us. Made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent in the restaurant and the breakfast cooked to order and very tasty. It was a pretty village to walk around and seemed very well connected for exploring the area.

Stopped in here on the way up to Helmsley, Easter Sunday. Had availability for Sunday lunch, had 2 beef dinners with a cauliflower cheese. Also had the lemon posset for dessert. Food was lovely, veg was all properly cooked (rare to find these days) and well seasoned. Beef had a large rind of fat on the edge, would have preferred that cut off but didn’t impact the rest of the cut. Comes medium rare but were able to cater to well done for my partner. Definitely would return here when in the area.

Great pub only had drinks but food did look OK. Great little seating outside and some undercover too. Dog friendly also.

Last night was the second time me and my partner had dined at the Fox & Coney and we walked away bitterly disappointed.

I’ve never felt so ignored in all my dining experience! Staff concentrating on bigger tables (presumably for larger tips) we didn’t once get asked if our food was ok, which the food was ok but over priced, my partner even asked for some mayonnaise which the server had ignored to which I then asked if we could receive said mayonnaise for my partner half way through her meal to which the server rolled their eyes and said ok, I was appalled! On leaving, staff couldn’t even look at us to even say bye! We have both agreed we will most likely never return to eat due to the poor level of customer service.

Went for the curry and a drink night last night . What a disappointment.
We’ve been in this hotel/restaurant a few times now and thought it a little expensive but because of its location you expect to pay a bit more .
Choice of 3 curries . We (3) chose korma with half and half . Ordered 2 pints of beer and a 125ml glass of of Zinfandel from the set menu
The server asked if I wanted small or medium. I said medium.
Wine arrived , meal arrived . The portions were child size , half a dozen chips and a tablespoon of rice . Tasted ok but left hungry .
Bill arrived which included a glass of wine £7:50 ( ish) and a service charge of £5:60 (ish) we were told service charge was optional.
Queried the wine as it was part of the set menu to be told that I’d ordered a large glass of wine and so wasn’t included. Should’ve been pointed out that if I ordered a wine other than the 125ml on the menu it wasn’t included ( I didn’t realise the medium glass wasn’t 125ml)
The young male server was very off hand , kept calling my medium glass a large one and made it obvious that he didn’t want to sort out the problem . Manager sorted it out . We left a Ā£5 tip which in hindsight wasn’t deserved, and left hungry and disappointed. Not a good experience at all

Lovely hotel, clean, great staff, nothing was too much. We booked a room with a huge copper bath which just felt like luxury. We ate at the restaurant which is on the high side price wise but the food was great. The only let down was how busy the road is that our room lead on to, there was a high volume of traffic all night and large lorries so ot was very loud. The room itself though was lovely.

Was staying in the area and looking for a dog friendly pub with good food. Fox & Coney was a great find. Reserved a table and plenty of room for the five of us with two dogs. Sunday Roast was delicious and all the food was excellent. Great service and atmosphere. Would have no hesitation booking again and has a great outdoor area for the summer season.

We came in for a lovely breakfast. They made it gluten free for me, and the flavours were amazing. I really liked the scrambled egg. They did a breakfast that came with avocado and halloumi and it was wonderful! So nice to have some different options. When we arrived we were greeted by the most wonderful puppy !
