Overall, the stay was nice. We stayed in the camping pods which were lovely. The bed was a little on the firm side, but apart from that they were warm and cosy. The toilet facilities for the pods were very good and clean as well.

The only disappointment of the stay was the food. Although presented in a lovely manner, some of the dishes were lacking ingredients which the menu stated or were rather on the less flavourful side. We also tried ordering desserts, but it seemed all of them were gone as the staff kept having to go and check whether they had the ones we asked for. After all that and 45 mins of waiting, we received the only dessert they had left with once again the incorrect ingredients from the ones stated on the menu.
I appreciate they might’ve had a day off, but it’s definitely something to look at.

Lovely stay recently for me and my partner for a weekend break. We booked through a third party but would avoid that next time as it caused some confusion, but it was no problem for the staff.

The room was very clean, and plenty of tea/coffee and water provided for our two night stay. Bathroom was somewhat basic but clean and more than acceptable for such a short stay.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, happily offered us advice on the local area. The food served was great, we both enjoyed our evening meal but found the breakfast service was absolutely fantastic.

Would book here without a doubt if travelling to the area again. Keep up the good work Fox & Hounds!

Lovely place to stay. Maize went out of her way to look after the gents on the coast to coast tractor run.|Peg and the rest of the team did an excellent job. Breakfast are brilliant, reasonable restaurant menu. Rooms with stunning views. |Such a peaceful place with amazing views down the dale. |Great place for walking, or just touring the north Yorkshire Moors. |

As long as you remember it's really a pub with rooms and only secondly a hotel, it's good. Breakfast is basic and the promised fruit appeared on only two of our for mornings, but the cooked breakfast items were excellent. There are rules, such as minimum £100 fee for any breakages! We arrived back at 10.35 to find the place in almost total darkness and struggled to be let in. I can recommend it, though - very nice staff - and it's handy if you're going to a wedding at Danby Castle very nearby.

Having spent 10 hours walking, it was an absolute delight to reach the Fox and Hounds and be met with cheery and friendly staff, and the best and most well-deserved pint ever!|We had a good dinner and breakfast here. My dog was also very well-looked after and made to feel welcome!|We had a twin room, although a bit on the small side it was absolutely accurate for our one night.|The location of the Fox and Hounds is brilliant - great for walkers exploring the North York Moors. Recommended!!

Stayed for one night last week , room ten , a view of the camping pods and a poor shower lose a star , however everything else was excellent , room clean and warm , plenty of tea coffee and water lovely big comfy bed . Welcoming bar area , excellent pint of wainwright's, well 3 , I had the steak and ale pie , seemed a tad expensive at £19 , but the portion size was good , great chips and lovely veg , followed by a delicious creme brulee . Was leaving early next morning so asked for an early breakfast , once again I can't fault it , and here's where we mention the lovely staff and paticularly Emma who couldn't do enough to accommodate my request. All in all 5 stars , beautiful country pub , made even better by such lovely staff . 😀

We have eaten at the Fox lots of times and the food has always been fresh and well cooked. Last night 18th May all that changed. I ordered scampi at 6.45 there wasn`t any available. My husband and I chose fish and chips, two small portions of frozen cooked fish and oven chips arrived.The waitress who served us was very nice she came back to say they had found some scampi !!!! and asked if we would like it. We said yes because of the small portions of fish. The scampi was overcooked three pieces didn`t contain any scampi. The Fox has been taken over and has a different chef. The couple on the next table asked for fish and chips there wasn`t any left. Next time we go into the Fox it will just be for a drink not food

Room was so lovely and airy, very large bathroom. Such a comfy bed. Clean and bright room. Food both nights was excellent. Compliments to the chef. The staff were so efficient and nothing was a bother. I would highly recommend this hotel. So peaceful outside. Stunning views
