A superb small hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and accommodating over a mistake I made with the booking date. The hotel itself is great, lovely room, comfy bed, great shower. Superb dinner (pie and mash) and breakfast (full English). All sensibly priced. Would definitely recommend staying. A proper gem.

Another fabulous stay at The George. From the welcome at the reception desk, to departure, everything was great. The room was very comfortable and we loved the White Stuff toiletries in the bathroom. The evening meal on Sunday night was superb and the service very good. Breakfast was excellent too and not rushed. The staff are thoroughly professional and friendly.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at The George. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The quality of food in the restaurant was excellent. We were extremely impressed by the service we received from all the staff we encountered. It struck us how young they all were? It relects well on the management, recruitment and training of their workforce. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we were always greeted with a smile. We plan to return there next October.

Charming, well run, rural location and faultless. That’s the whole blurb bit done, now for the main bit.||We opted for a two-night stay at The George and were immediately welcomed into a warm cosy building, room was spacious, well laid out, decorated and styled by some excellent designers, every touch was just right. Dinner review is separate just to note. Alice and her team were excellent, really lovely and friendly, service that was prompt, unobtrusive but helpful. A definite recommendation, if you want to be away from everything and enjoy the Hope Valley.

Lovely place for an overnight stay. Beautiful rooms, comfy beds and nice decor. Shower was amazing! Staff were super busy so didn't spend much time there, perhaps seemed a little stiff but good service and were there to help. Breakfast was lovely, good selection included. Lovely location too. Free parking

A lovely hotel with the most wonderful, professional staff. They show that hospitality is a profession not just a job and were all from the local area. The exceptional attitude apparently comes from the owner who looks after them above and beyond with career progression. The food was really good and the rooms are beautifully furnished. |I would happily return and recommend to anyone wanting a great place to stay in the Hope valley.

Well, what can I say about The George other than amazing in every way. A gorgeous building with stunning features throughout. Lovely private on-site secure parking. We paid £70 which included breakfast for a double room, which was perfect in every way , large, very stylish, good facilities, a lovely large comfy double bed, the room had a real home from home plush feel. We booked dinner for 8pm and were seated immediately, no waiting. The staff were amazing, very tentative and polite, nothing was too much trouble at any point of our stay. The food was fantastic, all locally sourced, my husband had Pie, myself Ribs, and our friend had the steak, all amazing quality and cooked to perfection. Breakfast was exceptional and again exceptional quality. I really can't rate this hotel & staff enough, we will absolutely be back.

The positives are that the hotel and rooms are lovely and the place has a much better atmosphere compared to the last place we stayed at in the Peak district. It was a great location for our walking group.|There is a nice selection of beers and wines.|The downsides, most the staff were nice and friendly but others made you feel that you were an inconvenience to them.|The breakfast was lovely but the evening menu was disappointing. The pizzas were hard and felt manufactured with far too many attempted flavours on them, particularly the Lamb one which was a bit sickly. |The homemade pie was lovely, but the Lamb ballotine was poor and disappointing.|The cheesecake was very nice.|The evening meal was very expensive for the quality and the menu feels like a little trying to please too many people without getting anything right.|Would definitely stay again, but probably eat elsewhere in the evening.
