Christmas Lunch for 12 done very well. Thank you to all the team. Food was exceptional- all starters, Mains and Deserts were super tasty. Very enjoyable afternoon. Great selection of beers, the comp Prosecco was a bit dry. Highly recommended.

My friend and I had dinner at The George on 12/10/24. Food was very good, although the caramel and chocolate slice was so hard it was almost impossible to eat. Gin and tonic was ordered, gin and lemonade was brought to the table.
Service was good, our waitress was attentive without being intrusive.
We were seated in the garden room. Midway through our visit another group arrived to be seated there, and they came with three dogs. We found this strange, as this was a dining area. The dogs were no bother and were immaculately behaved, however I am allergic. Half an hour after their arrival my allergies kicked in - rhinitis and wheezing, I needed to puff on my inhaler and take an antihistamine when I got home to alleviate the symptoms. I avoid dogs, I can’t spend time in the homes of people that own dogs and I have to take medication to manage symptoms when I do come into contact. I didn’t expect for this to be an issue in a restaurant. I’d also question the hygiene implications of having dogs here? This would make me question whether I’d visit The George again.

An outstanding experience. The food was lovely, fresh and so tasty. The staff were friendly and professional. A great buzz about the place and plenty of space between tables and that made it comfortable and easy to have conversations.
They made sure my Mum and I had plenty of time to catch up. Thank you

We had a family birthday celebration consisting of Sunday lunch. There were 23 of us in the upstairs room. Food and service was excellent. The staff worked really hard to make this a memorable occasion and all our friends and family thoroughly enjoyed themselves and also commented how good the service was in this excellent venue.

We must have arrived on a really off day. We had the Sunday roast chicken which was delicious but we were there for 2 hours for 1 course and 2 rounds of drinks. The service was terrible. We actually left after waiting for 30 minutes with no sign of a desert. It was busy when we arrived but slowed over time. Some staff were running about but some just didn't notice diners and were just milling around or hiding in the outside bar.We had to ask twice for a second drink which took over 15 minutes to arrive. We would have got them ourselves but we're told no its OK we'll get them.
Shame about the service . Hopefully just a bad day as the roast dinner was really good. Extremely tasty chicken. Good roast potatoes and lots of tasty,well cooked veg to go with it. Would have been nice to try the desert

A little limited vegetarian options but what they do have is very tasty.

We have just had a lovely time celebrating my sister and brother inlaws marriage at The George. I can honestly say we recieved first class service from bar staff and Dawn
Dawn looked after our wedding party from time we arrived to leaving, she was amazing, up and down the stairs with drinks of every kind and checking all was gd with everyone. Food was lovely. Thank you so much. X
