Excellent place to stay. Very historical and atmospheric. The room was very comfortable and had all the facilities one would need. Nice touches included an electric fan ( hottest weekend of the year) and a small radio playing ‘ easy’ music when we entered. It just set the tone. It is an old building so floors are a bit uneven but that is to be expected and accepted. A spacious en suite with a large shower completed things. The bed was comfortable and there was very little noise.|There is a very nice bar with a superb ‘ pub’ garden looking over the cricket pitch and village church - a typically English summer scene. Across the road is a pub also owned by the venue. |Staff are friendly, accommodating and attentive. Good choices available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.|If you are looking for tradition and heritage, this is the place.

Pre booked for my husband’s birthday as this was our first visit. Really easy to book online and great that it offers the option for dog friendly seating. On arrival, it was a lovely sunny day and so instead, sat out on the terrace. |Staff really attentive, polite and professional. Water was provided to the table, their pints were really good so clearly look after that too. You can see the attention to detail and the time, money and effort that has gone into the George Inn. A beautiful place in a lovely setting. We had starters and a main, all well cooked and wonderful flavours. They were keen to ensure our dog was happy too! Very knowledgeable about the pubs history, menu and ingredients when we asked. What a lovely treat for my husband. Some might say it’s pricy but you absolutely get what you pay for and more, you get a great experience, as you should. Thank you to the team, we will definitely be back and will be recommending to all our friends and family.

Although quite pricey the food and drink are excellent and we thought we’d splurge for our anniversary. We had a small celebratory Prosecco to start then fish and chips with a carafe of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Just over £90 for lunch. We asked to be seated inside and were seated in the Boardroom. They have a very pleasant sun terrace but it was too hot for us as heatwave!

I brought my mum here and we had the most wonderful stay. From the moment we arrived, the entire team was incredibly welcoming and genuinely friendly. I visited The George Inn for an early Father’s Day lunch with my dad, and we had a great experience. The food was absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere was just right. A special thank you to our waiter, Josh, who was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable when we asked about the menu and the history of the pub. His service really added something special to our visit. Thank you, Josh! We’ll definitely be back.

The room was delightful and spotlessly clean. The bar was busy but well managed. The restaurant however was poorly staffed by indifferent waitresses. They failed to take our order, when eventually they did the meals requested were no longer available. We had to chase the wine three times. Bread and butter arrived without butter. So a lovely hotel with some excellent staff let down by the indifferent service in the restaurant.

Went to celebrate my 40th with the family. There were 10 of us including 3 kids and one person with challenging dietary requirements. They handled it brilliantly, the food was excellent and the pub was both unique and in a great location.

The George Inn delivers the perfect Sunday lunch when celebrating with family. We were hosted in the dungeon and given a private function. The service was outstanding and I can’t praise the delicious roasts enough. Empty plates despite very generous portions.
