We stayed in Crabapple Cottage on the Goodwood estate for three nights in September. Our party was made up of two couples and two dogs. |The cottage was beautifully decorated and furnished with everything we needed. A lovely welcome basket of fresh bread and milk along with jams honey butter and chocolates. |There was enough space for us in the open plan kitchen, dining, lounge area plus a downstairs cloakroom and utility room. Plenty of space to store costs and boots etc. |Upstairs was a large double en-suite(walk in shower and bath)bedroom (wardrobe and drawers)and a twin room (drawer unit) plus a family bathroom(bath with shower over it). |There was a safe enclosed garden with table chairs and bbq. There was parking for one car and additional parking over the road in the hotel car park. |Breakfast was included as part of our stay and taken at Farmer Butcher Chef which was stunning. Nothing was too much trouble. It was very dog friendly and a great way to start the day. |Every member of staff we encountered was friendly professional and helpful, true first class service especially Pepe at breakfast. |This was a fabulous break and we would love to return.

All the staff were very attentive and polite.
Food was top-notch.
Rooms clean and comfortable.
Also had a spa treatment each, which was lovely.
A big thank you to all the staff that looked after us.

There were some lovely things about our 2 day stay here. First, the room was modern, clean and quiet. Second, the breakfast was the BEST we had all through our driving trip. The Continental breakfast was fabulous. However, the coffee maker was ridiculous. (Get someone to serve it.) Parking was easy. The staff were very cheerful.|However, they need a better selection for dinner meals somewhere in the hotel. We ended up going to a local pub a mile away. Also, I never received information regarding the health club and the services offered. I saw a woman with a robe one day wondering where she was going. This could be remedied easily by a simple brochure in the room.

The truth is …this is my third stay at this hotel. The first two times, both my wife and I loved it. The walks in the grounds around Goodwood House, afternoon drink at The Kennels and spending time watching the sports cars driving around The Motor Circuit just down the road and the occasional Spitfire flying overhead. This time, I was a little disappointed. I had rung the hotel to say it was a special occasion (my wife’s birthday) so we had decided as a ‘last minute’ thing to spend a couple days at ‘one of our favourite hotels’. I was informed that I would be given a ‘good room’. On arrival, we were given Room 359 which was along the corridor, up the threadbare stairs, along another corridor and at the end. Ok, fair enough. Opening the room, we found a very small box of chocolates with a note saying ‘Happy birthday’. Ok, fair enough…|We booked food in the ‘Bar and Grill’ restaurant only to find a limited menu. The next day, we found that the swimming pool had swimming lessons and lanes. The TV in the room is old (not a Smart TV, so no streaming channels!) Wi-Fi was ‘hit and miss’. I was kept awake each night by doors slamming and people talking loudly as they walk passed the room at around midnight.|We left the sign on our door for our room to be serviced only to find that none of the dirty cups/glasses had been removed, no replacement coffee pods/tea bags. This happened every day of our stay.|All in all, I feel that the standards have dropped.|I hope you can upgrade your services.

We had a good spacious room. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and I enjoyed the spa. Our dog really enjoyed it. We will visit again. It is a very dog-friendly hotel with good parking. The Farmer Butcher and Chef restaurant was particularly good.

We stayed here for one night as we were attending a wedding at The Kennels. We had asked for an early checkin due to the timing of the wedding and we’re told that they couldn’t guarantee this but would make a note on their system. When we got there, our room was available, which was a huge relief! Gorgeous hotel, room was really comfy and super clean. Breakfast was delicious - even though we went down right at the end of the service, there was plenty available and, if you did find something lacking, the staff were happy to replenish. Very friendly and professional staff. It’s a little out of our price range for a regular visit but made the wedding trip a really special occasion. Well done team!

On the whole an excellent stay with excellent staff. |Serving soup on cold plates was disappointing. |Entitling one dish on the menu ‘Pig’s Head’ did not sound very appetising!|The presence of our canine friends everywhere was a great joy. |Mr and Mrs Richard HEMING.

Would not go back. Reminded me of the Crossroads Motel. The rooms were fairly basic for the price, bathroom was very small. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss to say the least. The flagship restaurant, Farmer, Butcher, Chef was terrible, the staff need training , they are mainly very young and inexperienced, We waited 25 mins to be offered a menu, even though the majority of the staff seemed to be busy doing nothing. My starter included a crab bisque being poured over the dish but I had to ask for a spoon. Both main courses arrived cold, we sent them back, We later found out that we weren't the only ones to be served a cold meal that evening. I suspect they were then microwaved. The meat was very tough and chewy, the course was very poor in general. I paid a supplement for the cheeseboard, which involved estate made cheeses, they were basically tasteless. The only highlight was the wine and the young lady who served us, she was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. The restaurant would not survive a month if it was anywhere else. It has a captive market consisting of locals and guests. The hotel is not up to its four star rating and clearly lives on the Goodwood name.
