We were going to the Isle of Wight for a wedding, so thought we would stay a while and have a few extra days there and decided on Shanklin. When we arrived at The Grange, we were greeted by the owner Christina, lovely, friendly and welcoming. Room light and airy, bed & pillows really comfortable. Great power shower. Lovely breakfast each morning. Staff so friendly and courteous, always smiling whenever we saw them. There is a lovely sun terrace with plenty of table & chairs if on a sunny day you prefer to eat breakfast out there. Although walking distance to Shanklin town and Old Shanklin, once back at The Grange it was so quiet and peaceful. You can get to the beach walking through the beautiful gardens at The Grange that also has sun loungers and a swing bed. |We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and was made most welcome. Thank you! 🙂

It's very difficult, no, impossible to fault this place. We love Shanklin, so it's location was ideal. The owners and staff were very friendly. The room was bright and airy, and the bed comfortable. Couldn't fault the breakfast. Cooked fresh every morning. And the garden and veranda were a highlight of the morning, with our first cup of tea (the good weather was a bonus). All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay.

We stayed at the Grange as it was close to friends we were visiting. We booked a twin room and were in no 2. Bed were comfortable. We were on the ground floor and had patio doors we could open onto a small terrace. The bathroom was adapted for disabled, but we were not disabled, a bit tierd and could do with a re vamp, the sink too small and low, so made it difficult to use for shaving. Apart from that all the staff were wonderful, especially Wendy who couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was good and a very big choice. The Gardens amazing and lush looking very tropical.

On arrival with my wife at the Grange we were met by a male member of staff who seemed very unwelcoming and insisted he knew me and not it seemed in a nice way. However he showed us our twin room on the ground floor which turned out to be completely unacceptable for any number of reasons, it was dark, shabby, tired, 2 saggy beds on opposite walls, awful shower/ toilet tiny wash basin. After finding the same male again and telling him we were not happy with the room he went off on a strop and fetched a female member and we explained the same to her . She also seemed taken aback by our complaints. However after some discussion she offered us an alternative room but only for part of our stay and would want us to move out for our last night. The replacement room on the first floor was marginally better than the first and we decided to cut our losses and accept it. The room had one small window which didn’t close or lock properly, the shower room/ toilet was tiny and cramped, no shaver point , no hot water at certain times, and generally in need of a total revamp and makeover. We decided not to risk changing rooms again for our final night and left a day early and returned home. A stay at this place does not come cheap, there was no offer of a refund for our lost night, we incurred additional costs with amended ferry fees on top. Any positive aspect (although few) regarding this place was far outweighed by the negatives, a thoroughly depressing experience not to be repeated.

This big house is beautifully set out as a B&B, lovely dining room and lounges for guests, and a gorgeous secluded garden with trees all round, decorated with scuptures and swinging hammocks.|Our room was in the attic up two flights of stairs (no lift), normal size with only one window so it was a bit short of natural light but otherwise fine.|We had a large bed made up of 2 single beds put together. Firm matress (that was ok) but with not enough padding on top (our old bones ached). Also, the individual bed edges were hard almost rigid, so that meeting in the middle for a hug or more was impossible, we had to stay one side or the other within one of the singles.|Good breakfast, no buffet, you have to specify what you want from the list but they are flexible. |Staff are cheerful, very helpful, willing to go out of their way to assist.|The house is very close to Shanklin's restaurant area, a 10 minute walk to bus stops, & 15 minutes to the shopping street, 15 minutes to the sea front - an ideal location.|A really good base for an interesting holiday.

Really enjoyed the stay and the wonderful garden. Friendly helpful staff. A great experience and wonderful access to the coast and it's right in the town! Perfect access to the bus system and also has the Island train station near by.||Some of the more interesting areas to explore are Osborn House (via the local Bus) and the "The Chine" a natural spectacle within easy walking distance of The Grange.
