Sanjeewa was a lovely welcoming guy. The hotels location is fantastic walk to town. The value was reasonable for Canterbury. The hotel was in need of a freshen up and a good deep clean, could hear a lot of noise from others in the hotel and outside but was not an issue. The mattress wasn't the best but for what we needed it was ideal. He let us keep our luggage there before we checked in and after check out which was so convenient. The morning breakfast was basic but all we needed and lovely little set up. There was no issues and nothing too much trouble. Thanks โ˜บ๏ธ

There is a saying - which is - If it ain't broke - don't fix it. At Greyfriars Lodge - If anything is broke - it doesn't get fixed!|The 3* Star ( It is in no way a 3* Star Hotel!) is managed by one man with the help of a part time Housekeeper and he clearly is not on top of the job. He urges you to phone him on his mobile if you have a problem and he will sort it out. One should not have to do this. For example there was no plug in my washbasin - which was also cracked - Surely he should be aware of this and replace it before guests arrive . The light over my washbasin did not work and again he should have been aware of this. There was no daily servicing of my room and therefore the tea/coffee and milk were not replenished which meant that I could not make a cup of tea for myself in the morning - and neither the bed was made up nor the bins emptied. ||The sash window in my room was impossible for me to open as they were in such a bad state and apparently if they are opened by the manager they have to be proped up with something to keep them open. It is an old building and the steep twisting stairs without a problem handrail is quite a challenge to navigate. ||The website was misleading and gave the impression of a much higher standard than actually existed. Breakfast was disappointing - There was no fresh fruit salad as was shown in the website and the double toaster did not work on one side and was covered over with paper to stop guests from using that side.||I paid ยฃ160 for two nights for one person and certainly did not feel this was value for money. It seems that there is no investment in the place and that it is being run into the ground to make maximum profit. The only real plus is the location which is just of the High Street and bang in the middle of Canterbury.

Sanjeewa was incredible, he looked after my sister and me! He made it feel like a home from home and was very clear from the get-go that this was not a 5* experience haha. If you want a home-from-home experience and can look over the little things, this is the place for you. Honestly, it was all down to Sanjeewa making our stay feel so comfortable and safe. He went out of his way to make us feel so welcome and like family!

Breakfast was lovely and just what we needed.

Me and my family & friends stayed here last night. The location of the lodge itself is perfect as itโ€™s right in the centre of Canterbury which is what we wanted. However, the host was very rude, sarcastic and spoke to me as if I was stupid several times. The rooms were very basic, which we didnโ€™t mind as we were only staying for the one night. But one of the rooms had a screw in the shower so we wasnโ€™t able to use it which I found very odd. The host also failed to mention about the parking situation upon arrival which meant we then had a parking ticket which could have been avoided. We did mention this to him before we checked out and he said we should have mentioned it to him upon arrival and it was our responsibility.

We had a family room, good size although the mattresses were a little past it. Clean though. Only had a bath no shower. the chap who checked us in was lovely, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was only continental and basic, was enjoyable though. Excellent position. This is a basic hotel and although my comments are not great, it was good value, i didnt expect a lot for the price. i would stay there again

Greyfriars lodge is excellently placed right in the centre of Canterbury and our host Sanjeeva was very friendly and welcoming. That said the rooms are a bit tired and in need of some sprucing up. The continental breakfast was good and for the price it did the job. We slept well even though my husband's side of the bed was broken!

It's a really, really old building and the rooms reflect that. I thought it was remarkable the level of service we where given considering this is a budget friendly accommodation. The location was just off the main street enough to allow for a quiet nights rest.

We arrived was greeted by the host who was pleasant man he showed us to the room which downstairs I had requested a twin once inside the room was visually clean the decour could do with updating but nothing to bad. I then checked bathroom the shower had mold on the grout and could do with a serious deep clean|The beds looked to have fresh bedding but when I picked the corner of the sheet up to check for mattress cover as I lifted the sheet the mattress top came away with the sheet which exposed the inner filling of the matress if you pulled the side down ypu could see inner part of the matressI again I then decided that I wouldn't be staying there I went to find someone who worked there and showed him he didn't seem to bothered I requested a full refund but was told to contact booking.com which I but they said refunds were down to property I emailed the owner but have been ignored |Do not stay here |
