The cutest gem of an accommodation! Tucked away behind the Inn, converted barn with gorgeous modern and very comfortable rooms. The room was clean and spacious with all the amenities. The stay was excellent, down to the smallest detail like a nightlight in the bathroom.
Staff were fabulous. Highly recommend! 😍

From the moment of arriving to check out has been such a pleasure staying here. Nick (landlord) was fantastic, out of his way to make sure the stay was the best it could be. Also very kindly took me to the wedding I was going to! The staff, the food, the rooms, the pub and lovely gardens, everything was just 5*. Would highly recommend staying here.

Thank you Nick.

Charming hotel and restaurant in lovely location. The staff team were really lovely, friendly and helpful. We arrived tired with four mountain bikes having ridden many miles on the Southdowns Way and the team welcomed us with ice water, sorted a place for our bikes for the night and showed us to our very charming rooms. Dinner was very good as was breakfast. Restaurant (and hotel) perhaps a little expensive, but very nice spot.

Great food and service. Small menu but excellent choices. Little pricey but still worth it.
Recommend to anyone wanting a pub lunch just outside the bustle of Petworth.

We stayed here for a night at the weekend and had dinner in the restaurant. On arrival, it was very quiet and we went to our room. The room looked lovely, however, during the night, we discovered that the bed was quite short as it had an end. The blinds in the room let light through so I was woken early and there was no way to let air in as there was no visible windows. ||Moving on to the dinner, there were only three other tables in the entire restaurant and the atmosphere was dead. There was no music played and the waitresses were not friendly at all. Teu were unable to recommend the food or wines. The food was mediocre for the price. Nearly £30 for a main and the portions were small, food was cold and the quality was rubbish. I’m not sure where their 5 stars have come from. The drinks menu was limited with no cocktails. We felt as if we were over staying our welcome within the restaurant and returned to our room straight after dinner - something we don’t normally do. I have to say, dominque, made several inappropriate comments during our meal about what we had eaten. No regard for if we had a history of eating disorders. ||The only saving grace was breakfast, the waitress at breakfast was so friendly and quick. There was music playing and she couldn’t have done enough for us. The food was nice and the poached eggs were runny. ||Really unfortunate and disappointing as the area is so lovely, we won’t be returning and feel like we could have chosen a much better hotel with a much better restaurant and service in the area. My advice would be to look somewhere else and don’t be fooled by the 5 stars they advertise. I really do wish that we had argued the quality of the food but it was very awkward when you are being watched eat as you are one of a couple of tables.

Disappointing…

We stayed here for a two night getaway in the shepards hut. We were so disappointed to find the mattress was unbearable. It seemed like it was completely knackered and in need of urgent replacement. The whole bed was so uncomfortable which really put a dampener on our trip. We raised our issue with staff who were very dismissive and said that no one else had ever made a complaint. We asked for an additional duvet to lie on for more comfort which they did provide. But no other remediations we made for us.

Other than that the place was nice and clean. Breakfast was good, nothing special, it was a shame they were out of stock of my desired dish on one of the mornings. We did not have dinner so could not comment on that. Unfortunately this just wasn’t the experience we were hoping for.

Hidden countryside pub/b&b/restaurant. Went for a delightful mid week lunch. Very good service and food with plenty of parking and easy access for wheel chairs and buggies. Small quality menu with specials offering something for everyone. A must if in the area.

An impromptu visit to the Halfway Bridge turned into a wonderful experience. Delightful surroundings with a roaring fire on a freezing day was as welcoming as the really helpful staff.
Yummy food with just the right amount of choice and a salted caramel ice cream to make us return as soon as possible.
