This place is spot on, great value for money, amazing space for 2 couples. Well stocked kitchen. Spotlessly clean. Really attentive staff. Great location. Only issue we have had the both times we have stayed is that it is too hot in the rooms. I really hope they think of investing in air-conditioning as it makes it an uncomfortable sleep, fans are provided, along with everything else that you could possibly need, but unfortunately these are insufficient to solving the issue with the stuffy warm rooms.

My first visit to The Halston for afternoon tea to celebrate two friends big birthdays. We'd pre booked and reserved a table a while ago, as it's very popular.

We were at the Bartons Yard part of the hotel. Entrance was via reception to ensure that those people having afternoon tea were not disturbed by hotel and bar footfall.
The staff were superb and very helpful. They were also very thorough, ensuring there were no allergies.
It was a Festive themed afternoon tea. We started with finger sandwiches and soup, followed by sweet and savoury mini treats. Tea and coffee were included, with fizz as an optional extra. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the ample offerings. The presentation and attention to detail were exquisite.
We finished off with drinks in the hotels Penny Blue Restaurant.
I would definitely consider attending again.
If there's a member of your group with allergies or the menu is just not their bag, discuss other options so you don't feel as though you have to miss out. You will be accommodated.
There are good facilities at the hotel, and it's accessible. There's a car park next to the hotel £1 per hour, pay on departure, so no clock watching. The hotel is also only a few minutes' walk from the bus station, railway station and various routes bus stops.

Wonderful service and a beautiful and clean room. There’s no air conditioning but fans were provided and fortunately, the weather was fairly mild when we were there. There was a little street noise coming from the window in the living room but quiet in the bedrooms. Kitchen is fully stocked with silverware, kitchen utensils, a microwave, stove, toaster, tea kettle, and coffee machine, dishwasher too. We enjoyed the complimentary crumpets with butter, jam, and tea! The apartment was spacious enough for my family of 4. I only wish we could’ve stayed longer!

Spacious apartment hotel with an elevator! Honestly, I was quite surprised to find elevators in such historical home, but they managed to squeeze one, a very unconventional one at that, between the floors. Impressive!

The unit itself was much larger than we expected and fully stocked except for paper towels (though it might just be a UK thing that they don’t supply paper towels). The hotel offered complimentary crumpets and jam which was a nice surprise!

If I recall correctly, there was a washing machine in one of the kitchen cabinets ? though it’s been two months since we last stayed so I could be wrong. Make sure to check with the hotel if you plan to do laundry.

A lovely place, very clean, nicely kept and with many little details that betray a love of hospitality. Fully equipped kitchenettes and an absolutely superb restaurant right next door (Penny Blue). Very professional staff that does not mind to go an extra mile for their guests.

Visited on Friday 26 th April, the venue was a great size room for a small intimate occasion, the staff were so attentive and the food was amazing , mini fish chips and mushy peas, brioche buns and burger n chips, home made tartar sauce was beautiful. All in|Little bite size containers which was just enough when your out and drinking. 10/10 well done to the Halston Carlisle. Perfect.

Not a bad place but only worth half the price . Had to pay to park , got 20% discount, but still should have been included. No breakfast included , cost £680 for 2 nights for 2 rooms for wife and myself and our grandson and his girlfriend. Add on £24 for parking and £100 + for 2 lots of breakfast. Rooms a bit dated , bath was the highest ever seen we all had trouble getting out from the shower, needed to be a weightlifter to open the windows. Small carton of milk 4 coffees and 4 teas , reception said only get this first night stay so would have to replace ourselves, luckily lovely cleaner who gave us some. 4 small butters for packet of 6 crumpets. Could have stayed at Premier inn for £160 for the 4 of us , free parking and cheaper breakfast. Drove up from London for 6 hours for grandsons graduation so this put a damper on what should have been one of the greatest days of our lives for all of us . Probably never be going to Carlisle again but if did would never stay in this grossly overpriced hotel.
