We stayed over on Sunday evening and were impressed by the lovely pub interior and the beautifully decorated rooms. We were welcomed by a lovely lady (didn't catch her name but she said she lives in the caravan !) with warmth who went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed—she’s truly an asset to the pub. We enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast, and the chef and kitchen staff (one of whom had only started this week ) were incredibly friendly, even offering leftover beef to our dog (she was so spoiled, she didn’t want to leave!). Breakfast was equally delightful, with plenty of fresh produce and a variety of options. The morning staff were also friendly and helpful. This is a fantastic pub with rooms, but it’s the staff that truly makes the experience special.

We tried to pop in for dinner one night but were made to feel extremely unwelcome. The woman who sat us initially was perfectly pleasant and informed us that they had a reduced menu on Monday and Tuesday. Fine. |The waiter who took our order was rude, aggressive and made us feel like we were an inconvenience for merely showing up! Apparently they weren’t even going to put our orders through to the kitchen for 20 mins to “not put pressure on the kitchen” so after a very unpleasant exchange we decided to put less pressure on the kitchen and went to the Masons Arms up the road where we were greeted warmly. |I’d suggest the establishment take a look at its staffing if they can’t cope with walk ins on a quiet Tuesday evening and work on how to communicate that with customers.

Stopped here for lunch as we were passing. It's typically Lake District expensive. The place is nice, the staff were nice and the food was tasty. Unfortunately, my sandwich was disappointingly small. I honestly could've eaten two of them. I wish you well, but you need to deliver better value.

Wonderful quiet location. Staff were all spot on to a tee. Room was lovely. Nice breakfast.

Now the downside....
Were told when we went down for evening meal that there was a reduced menu. A bit disappointing when we had paid a hefty price for a birthday treat. They did chuck in a couple of free drinks but we were restricted in our choice of food. Only 4 choices. If we were told this prior to paying we would have cancelled. Also the red wine was awful. Must have been dregs from the end of the bottle.

Beautiful old pub, newly renovated. On the more expensive side but worth every penny. Always have space for us when we drop in, wearing bike gear or for a Sunday roast. Outside beer garden currently being worked on but the tables out front catch the sun into the afternoon. Worth a visit for sure!

Fancy pub meal and the food was good, although the menu is quite limited and there was too many fish options (in our opinion!) The beef was very nice but portion size did not feel reflective of the price. Waiters and waitresses were very friendly 🫶🏻 Pub is also dog friendly 😊

We dined at the restaurant and had a very enjoyable meal. As it was a Sunday, the menu was quite limited, but the food was excellent. The starters were great, and we both agreed that the fish and chips were the best we’ve had in a long time. The sticky toffee pudding for dessert wasn’t bad either! Highly recommended.||Although the staff seemed busy at first and we didn’t feel particularly welcomed, this shouldn’t put you off. Once they took our order and attended to us, they were very friendly and professional.

Met friends for dinner this evening. Absolutely awful, not a patch on what it used to be. The waiter was beyond rude - seemed to think he was doing us a great favour. No understanding at all of customer service. We waited 45 mins before getting our first drink. If we had been on our own we would certainly have got up and left. Food was well below average. Will never go back. Avoid. There are so many better places to spend your hard earned cash.
