My stay at the Hickshead hotel has been excellent in many respects, especially the helpfulness of the staff and their proactive attitudes. The Hotel is very convenient, the food is good and as I say the Staff make this place somewhere I will return. |Unfortunately if you have a room facing the carpark not only do you get woken up at silly o'clock by patrons chatting in the carpark (not the Hotel's fault at all) but also by the smell of cigarette smoke coming in through the window, as patrons that are staying in the Hotel sit on the picnic tables to smoke. Yes I did have to get up and close the window but then the room is too warm, catch 22. Other than that I would recommend staying there as it was very chilled and accommodating. Thank you Hickstead hotel.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in for many years. Rooms are spacious and clean.
Big walls between rooms and I could not hear anything whilst I was in them.

Breakfast was brilliant and with the continental style they were not shy!!

The only thing I will say is that closing them doors was with a bang.

The rooms are a little battered around the edges. Beds are incredibly hard and walls are paper thin. But, the staff are amazing, friendly and eager to help. The food is first class and the location is ideal for Brighton and beyond.

Super helpful, considerate & friendly staff. Hotel was exceptionally clean, restaurant food was good - a little greenery-light but not 3663 / ping meal plates. Plentiful parking & welcomed dogs which although I didn’t bring mine is brilliant to know for future stays.|Some of the decor is a little dated but everything is in good order / super clean & you can’t fault the location for anyone competing at Hickstead!

I recently stayed at the Hickstead Hotel for two nights and had a very disappointing experience. From the moment I arrived, things started to go downhill.

First, both of my pillows were unbearably stinky, like someone had sweated on them and they hadn’t dried out properly. After the first night, I reported the issue to the reception and asked if they could sort out the smelly pillows. Unfortunately, when I returned to my room that night, nothing had been done. The same stinky pillows were still there, making it impossible to get a good night’s sleep.

To make matters worse, the doors at the hotel are fitted with door closers that don’t work smoothly. I was woken up at 6:30 am by the constant noise of doors slamming as guests rushed to breakfast. It felt like a built-in alarm clock—definitely not the kind of wake-up call anyone wants while on a trip.

As for breakfast, it was nothing special. The coffee was cold, the sausages were cold, and I had to wait several minutes just to get some toast. The overall quality was very disappointing.

Based on my experience, I would definitely not recommend the Hickstead Hotel. The cleanliness, comfort, and quality of service were all lacking.

Lovely hotel.. Peaceful setting. Pleasant staff. Good breakfast. Please could table and chairs by front door be moved. People sitting talking and drinking getting louder as eve goes on. Can be disturbing. Staff did handle this well when asked to deal with noise.
Quickly restored peace. Would stay again.

Lovely reception staff, great parking, hotel nice and clean and quiet. |Didn't eat so unable to comment. |Room was nice and clean and bed comfy, shower good pressure. |Not enough plug sockets, only 2 spare and 1 was used for the fan (hotel provided as hot and no aircon), so struglle to charge 2 phones.|Room nice but bit dated/tatty.
